Dissatisfaction leads to expansion. No amount of success on the home front would content an enterprise, so they expand their business into other countries.
With their eyes set on the United Kingdom, US-based company Stamps.com agreed to acquire MetaPack Ltd, UK’s leading delivery management platform, for £175 million in cash.
Stamps.com said the acquisition is a strategic investment and compliments their postage service, considering that MetaPack has over 500 customers consisting of global eCommerce retailers, such as Argos, John Lewis and ASOS, among others, who are connected to 450 couriers operating in more than 200 countries.
By combining their business with MetaPack’s, which utilises SaaS technology to provide an integrated delivery framework, Stamps.com can gain a foothold in the UK and create a strong customer base.
As to how the partnership can provide better eCommerce solutions on a global scale, Stamps.com Chairman and CEO Ken McBride said:
“MetaPack is the leading enterprise-level multi-carrier e-commerce software platform supporting the world’s largest retailers and the world’s best known brands. MetaPack has significant business in Europe, complementing Stamps.com’s strong position in the U.S. MetaPack also serves the largest enterprises and retailers, complementing Stamps.com’s traditional focus on smaller businesses. Together, the two companies will be better able to provide innovative solutions in an increasingly global e-commerce world to customers of all sizes and in all geographies.”
MetaPack will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stamps.com once the deal has been completed.
