Are you ready to accept cryptocurrencies in your online store?
We ask because two of the most popular eCommerce platforms made headlines with their blockchain-related activities last week.
Shopify struck a partnership with payment gateway CoinPayments, allowing sellers on their platform to accept cryptocurrencies as payment for their goods.
Although Shopify have been accepting bitcoin for five years now, this new deal opens the door to 300 other cryptocurrencies.
For many crypto enthusiasts, the partnership has just put blockchain technology a step closer to cementing its role in the future of eCommerce payments.
Also forging ahead in the race, Magento has the Waves Crypto Payments extension available for Magento 2 stores.
According to Mageworx, a Magento extensions developer, the extension is a fast, secure and transparent method of payment that will help Magento users expand their businesses internationally.
Now if you’re wondering where the big marketplaces are in all of this, Amazon and eBay have yet to make crypto payment methods available to sellers and buyers on their platforms.
However, there have been reports that Amazon are tying up with Consensys, a blockchain software builder, while eBay are thinking of including more options in their new payment system Adyen.
So, are you all set to conduct transactions in cryptocurrencies? Let us know in the comments below.
To your continued success,
