It’s like wading thru treacle – 3 to 10 second delays on every page load/ backpage. Page load/builds seem to take an inordinately long time.

It’s been the same since I ‘ve been a member. In any browser (IE, Edge, Chrome, FF) on any o/s (win8, win8.1, win10, iOS)

I have a 100 meg line (that tests to 106 every time I test it) so its not my internet connection. webpagetest.org has an initial load time of 6+ seconds with repeat loads of over 4 seconds.

What gives?

Your not the only one, I noticed this issue as well, playing videos is painful it takes on average 5 secs plus to load every video , and the general site performance is poor.

I mentioned it to Matt and he ran some optimisation on it yesterday, are there any specific pages which seem to be slow to load that we can investigate deeper or is it just the site as a whole?

For me it it is viewing the lastest forum posts from “my account dashboard”, takes a long time to load a post & then a long time to go back to the dashboard, although the whole site seems quite slow.

We used to use Chrome but now use Firefox, and it was similar on both, however, have just tried Chrome again and it is working fine, tried Internet Explorer but that is also slow but slightly quicker than Firefox so appears it might be browser related.

I just done a couple of tests. To login it takes nearly six seconds, once on the site it took another 5.38 seconds to view this post. Average time from page to page is 2-3 seconds. I tried the same in firefox and the login time is 5.4 seconds. i don’t know what server specs you are using, wether it’s a cloud vps or dedicated, but maybe more cpu is needed, you should be able to trace the bottleneck in the server logs. Watching some of the videos has been painfully slow, sometimes taking 5-7 seconds to switch between them.

Hey Guys,

Just replicated the page loads you mention here in the UK in a fresh browser and we are getting around 2 seconds per page load, across the site, inc home page, forums, blogs, tutorials etc

Looking deeper and some of the tracking things we use are adding some load but the benefits of having them far outweigh the micro seconds they add.

Also spoke with Matt about the web server and he confirmed our server has 32 cores and “more memory than Einstein”

We are based in the UK as is our host, but sadly there is nothing more that we can do, especially as we can’t replicate the issue here.

Dave/Matt,

I’m in the UK, as mentioned on the first post, on a 100 Mbit connection. for me its ALL navigation around the site that is slow and always has been. As per my first post I tested it with a third party test site to eliminate my connection /pc (running its tests from London) and it reports pretty much exactly what I experience on my PCs (an i7 16MB laptop or an i5 Surface Pro 3 – so not shonky old celerons or such).

It happens on all browsers (IE11, Edge, Chrome, FF and even Safari *shudders* for Windows) – timings on all of them are broadly similar.
