Why does eBay add the cost of gallery picture when I didn't choose this?

I’ve been a seller on eBay for around 15 years and it’s been the case for some time that eBay themselves are simply checking ‘Gallery photo’ on some on my listings. When I’m relisting a few hundred listing I sometimes miss this fraud and don’t realise I’ve listed with this checked. Each time eBay does this it costs me £2.50 per listing.
If I am not vigilant I often end up making a loss that month, due to this.

I have ‘unchecked’ all my listings for gallery photo as it’s completely redundant and doesn’t increase sales. I can’t afford to be duped by eBay any more.

I simply want to make people aware to be vigilant as eBay themselves have scams we don’t hear about in their community forum.

I saw a website/blog from an sellers union, which is trying to offer ‘impartial’ advice to sellers. I think the website is
The guy who runs it is a lecturer & his daughter is an eBay seller. I think there’s an email on the site.

eBay is not a fair arbitrator and I feel honest sellers do need some sort of union.
