Hi Matt and Dave,
I’ve been watching your progress with real interest and understand you must not be getting much sleep as you count down to Jan 1st for the release of your guides! All the best. I have quite a few questions, but will wait until I can view what you have put together.
I will be hoping to move one of my clients ebay stores over to Magento and then look at doing the same for their website down the track. I’m concerned with how the transition works. Can everything remain working as normal on the ebay store while setting things up in Magento? I’m a bit nervous about having a negative effect on their sales if I run into trouble during the transition. Could you please explain how that works?
Many thank for keeping an eye on what we’re doing, its great to know people are intrigued by what we are up to. Yea not much sleep really, and a distinct feeling that Christmas is cancelled this year but we both know it will be worth it as we bring a lot of value to a lot of people in 2014.
As for your question, the answer is a resounding yes. With one of our test users he has been running his eBay account as normal whilst setting up Magento and M2E Pro in the back ground and getting it ready to switch over. There are a couple of settings we can choose in M2E Pro to make sure it doesn’t interrupt with your eBay store until you want it to.
This gives you the ability to build it up in the background whilst your store continue as normal.
Hope that helps

Yep this is definitely possible with a note here to disable any listing actions when you set up M2E Pro in the synchronization settings, so nothing is automatically listed. Then when you’re ready you change the policy settings for that listing group.
Just to double check on this. I’ve now set ‘No’ for ‘Import Ebay Orders’ in the M2e Pro setup, but in the Synchronization do I have to still disable the inventory and orders or is it ok because I’ve set the ‘no’ to importing the orders?
There wasn’t anything mentioned in the guide to disable if you didn’t want it to synchronise yet.
Ok, if you’re working with a live eBay account and they’re still using their current software AND because we’ve not got the other guides ready for you yet, in this case make sure that synchronization is disabled AND order collection as well.
This will mean that you can still list with M2E Pro, get the inventory upto date (with the guides that are following shortly) and not interfere with anything the client is doing at the moment.
Does that make sense?
