I am a big fan of the understanding-e concept, I’ve been a member 3 months now and invested a fair bit of my spare time when I’ve had it on Magento foundation, M2epro and Ultimo Tutorials and learned alot. However I am still a long way for my target which is to have a Magento website with all my 600+ ebay listings on sale and then get them rolled out on Amazon too.

I have just realised that by following all the tutorials in sequence that I am spending alot of time learning about stuff that isnt that important to me i.e. colour swatches, sliders, related and upsell products etc but I’m following the courses in sequence because I dont want to miss 1 vital bit of information.

My suggestion is how about a tutorial which is stripped right back to basics to enable ebayers to get their products on sale on thier own Magento site and then Amazon as qucikly as possible which is my priority, I’d be happy to learn about luxury stuff and tweak later on once I’m up and running and taking more money.

What I would suggest here is that you focus on one channel first, specifically eBay.

If you follow the eBay & Magento courses you’ll get everything you need in data wise, so that when you do the Amazon or Magento web site courses, you’re only picking up the parts you need for those courses.

For example in the eBay course we cover the addition on the best practice attributes, it’s these attributes that are then later used and adapted in both the Magento and Amazon courses.

Hope that helps!

Hi yeah I’m pretty much only focussing on ebay at the moment, amazon will hopefully come later. The point I’m trying to make is that as a business owner time is limited and between simple severs and my premium subscription I’ve spent £150 and 3 months of spare hours /evenings in time here and there and still not making any extra money.

I’m selling 6-8000£ a month on ebay from 600 existing listings at the moment and my target is to increase that by 20% by having a Magento store and going on to Amazon.

The ultimo theme course is so in depth and long its seems to take forever to get through all the videos then put into practice, that I’ve now come to the conclusion my best option is now to pay someone to fully configure Ultimo for me get my products listed on Magento and walk me through the bits I actually need to go live with sales because Ifeel like I’m missing out on sales every day my Magento store isnt live and I’m not on Amazon.

If I could just turn my ebay store off for a week and cram the course that would get me to where I want to be but I’m not in a position to do that.

I reckon that if there was an off the peg understanding-e simply configured black and white ultimo store available to buy for $500 that I could just duplicate my ebay listings onto immediately possibly with some live support to walk through anything specific for my listings and a pared back basic turorial to help me do this – I would have taken the commerical decision to have paid that as I would probably have recouped my investment by now. And I would also have kept my subsciption going so I could improve, tweak and edit once I’m up and running.

I’m going to keep plodding away as I know long term my time investment will pay off but with just an hour to dedicate to this every other evening its painfully slow, I don’t know if anyone else is in the same boat as me just thought I’d give in my feedback

That is an interesting idea, and you are the first to propose something along these sort of lines. However myself and Matt have spoke about something similar internally before.

Getting something along these lines is on the longterm plan for UnderstandingE but will take the right timing, planning and staff members available for the support piece.

The more demand we see for this then the more we will have to consider it :)
