Will this be available to us via Magento etc? We can currently do it on ESP but it seems as though not everyone is lucky enough to have this facility

Hi Dave,

I’ve not seen any mention of this at all in M2E Pro, so I checked and found this request and added to it :)

Cheers! It’s not a deal breaker but as most people don’t have access to this, it’s a nice thing that sets us apart. (or it will be when we have time to implement it on more than a few items..)

Happy to say that this has been added to the latest version of M2E Pro. I’ve tested it and it appears to work as expected.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve just updated mine.

Maybe an idea for a future guide on how and when to update extensions?

I have just upgraded to 6.1.0.

Can anyone give me a quick outline of how I utilise the markdown feature from M2E Pro as I can not find any documentation on it.

Cheers

Oops. Sorry, I should have explored more. Just located the Strike Through price option field in the M2E rules setting. For anyone joining this topic with the same question, here is where it is;

M2E/configurations/policies

Then edit the relevant ‘price, quantity and format’ policy

Does the M2E Markdown Manager permit bulk markdowns to be applied to several products?

For example, if I have a listing group containing 12 products and I want to markdown all 12 products in this listing group by 10%.

Is it possible to do this?

I have just tried using the “Strike Through Price” feature on the latest version of M2E 6.1.0, however when I revise the current listings I get the following message:

Warning Seller is not eligible to list a discounted item.

Have I set this up wrong? Is there another setting that has to be changed in Magento or eBay? or must I contact eBay to activate this feature? If so what are eBay requirements to have this feature enabled?

I have also received this message, just a stab here but is this feature restricted to particular countries?

Howdy Shragi,

Strike Through Pricing is used to be only available to eBay accounts that have it enabled on their account, however I believe that changed to store owners.

So the daft question is, do you have a store?

Oh and also is the listing price as defined is less than the RRP?

Cheers Shragi,

I remember when eBay first introduced it years ago, and I was working with one of the companies who were first offered it, I do recall they had to do something within our account to activate so definitely sounds like an eBay thing. Let us know how you get on.

Indeed it is something that has to be enabled by eBay and I think they refer to it as the “Discount Pricing program” rather than Strike through pricing, because when I spoke to them on the phone they were adamant that the only strike though pricing feature they offer was the markdown manager.

For more info see this link.

I have now followed up with eBay via email and will update further when I hear back from them.

Hey everyone,

So I just got off the phone with ebay after a solid hour, 2 reps and numerous holds… The verdict.. “When your as big as Best Buy, We’ll call you!” lol, but no really, in a very polite manner this is what I was told.

In summary, Ebay has “a very small program” that entitles those that are a part of it to an account management team whom have to be the ones to enable this in your ebay account. In order to be a part of these program you have to be invited into it by this department within ebay.

So Dave1, I guess you were right about being one of the lucky ones :) Any pointers?

Hey Chad,

Ah that’s a sh***er! Sadly I don’t know a lot about eBay US internally and what they’re criteria is for things like this. Here in the UK there is an Elite level of sellers, which have to meet certain criteria in order to be included in, this level is the sort of level where you see the big brands, such as Argos, Tesco, Superdry etc (These are amongst the largest eBay sellers in the UK, so I am guessing Best Buy is your equivalent)

I know one of the criteria was to be turning over £1 Million + on eBay a year if you were based in the UK.

So as for tips it’s all about getting eBay’s attention, and it looks like a major way of doing that is turnover. Make sure you are the best seller that you can be and that low DSR’s and negative feedbacks are kept to an absolute minimum. Offering free and speedy delivery options (don’t necessarily have to be the same service) are a big plus too.

If you have an eBay account manager, you can try to utilise these guys to help you sell more, we had some fantastic account managers at the time which were really keen to help us out. If you have a great product at a great price and you can tie it in seasonally and you have large quantity, you may also be able to see if you can get the attention of the deals team in the US, to try and get your product on a daily deal, as those have the potential to be huge for your eBay shop and sales.

Sorry for the large post but hopefully it has given you a couple of ideas Chad.

Any Q’s let me know :)

I suppose this is good news for me because it means I have an advantage over my competition who don’t seem to have this either.

Regards getting access to it, we use eSellerPro and we were offered this by them rather than by eBay. Perhaps eBay made it available to all eSellerPro customers as they knew that they have to be of a certain level before using such software? I think we had to fill out some forms which got sent over to eBay and they activated it on our account.

Good luck getting it sorted, it’s a nice feature as it shows in the search results which kinda makes your listing stand out a little
