Just wanted to vent! I knew it would happen. Just checking on one of “my” competitors on ebay and they are now using WC for they ebay listing.

I thought this would happen as it is advertised on each of my WC listing so does not take long to figure out.

Kudos that WC is very successful and the fact it is so easy to use and affordable is great – you code something like that you should be rewarded with lots of sign ups – but still so ANNOYING to lose the competitor advantage so easily due to the fixed advertising.

It is the one thing I hate about online, it is an infinite space, but when you drill down it gets pretty small pretty quickly and so easy for copycats.

Rant over

I know what you mean Rik, it’s frustrating from your side as any advantage unless an incredibly well kept secret tends to be short lived. Likewise as creators we constantly have the risk of imitators.

Definitely one of the downsides unfortunately. Is there anything you could envisage us or WC doing in order to combat this?

Hi Dave, yes I was thinking about this last night, it is the same for you, for designers, for brand manufacturers etc – things do get copied. Online makes copying easier as world is smaller and everything in easy reach etc.

Ideally with the WC I would like to be able to

remove the fixed advert at the bottom of the listing page

.

Like I have said before: I spend hours per week in my own time reading online, researching etc and I found Last Drop of Ink, I then followed Matt and introduced to you, I then followed UE and WC. Basically it took me my own time and efforts to find/use WC.

So with that said, the last thing I want to do is now blatantly advertise what I am using so that others can easy copy.

Hope that makes sense.

(Yes of course I can copy others as well, but that is our each own responsibility to hide/protect our source etc – do not make it easy for anyone!)

I understand completely where you are coming from Rik. Trying to look at it from Matt’s point of view from WC by removing the attributions does it not limit the scope for him to market his tool to more sellers, and ultimately drive more revenue to WC enabling him to develop further tools for sellers?

Definitely yes Dave that is a very valid point. Similar to like I said, I totally understand it and get it – I just don’t like it!

I think that it is similar to me not revealing who/where my suppliers are – i.e. privilege information as a result of hard work.

Users pay for WC – (UE Premium, excellent value BTW and I highly recommend people sign up) – and users create their own content so does that mean we are paying customers and creators of our unique content and thus we should be able to turn the advert on or off?

Anyway, as before I totally get it, I do not want to overthink it. I just wanted to voice my thoughts.

Maybe have a reduced price for those that do not mind the advert and for us that pay full price we have the option to turn off.

What about a premium subscription option that removes the advert?

possibly but I prefer not to pay more hence I would suggest a reduction to those that do display (opposite!)

I have travelled the same road as Rik and felt the same way in regards to the logo and link at the bottom of the template…..I totally understand both sides but would like to see an option for a white label template.

Premium for no ad seems fair to me. Works for other products and simple to implement!

Good morning Rik, Andrew, Annette,

Same as you, I understand both sides. I’ll get this coded in, in the next version.

Also so you’re 100% aware, this will not be put in until the black Friday/cyber Monday has been & passed. The reason for this is that we are about to hit the highest demand period of the year (we’re already seeing a substantial uplift in traffic) and I’m sure you’ll appreciate that I don’t want to touch anything that may impact the delivery of templates.
