We hit a knowledge gap in the UE video guides for importing products using Magmi.
We sell clothing and, for some ranges, the retail price of larger sizes is higher than small sizes.
We have created configurable products for the various sizes but could not work out how to give the larger size simple products a different price ; even when the price column in the Magmi import CSV had a different price for larger products.
Finally found this knowledge base article :-
This brings in the concept of Associated Products – which enables the price of simple products within a configurable set to be varied (from the ‘base’ price) by either a fixed amount or a percentage.
It works find both on the Magento website and on Ebay via M2ePro … but I currently have to manually go in and adjust each product where the product price is different from the parent base price.
My question is therefore, … can you help me so that I can just import this adjustment as another column in Magmi ?
Many Thanks !
See here http://wiki.magmi.org/index.ph….._processor you can override the values on the configurable product, but needs to be in a slightly different format as shown in the examples.
Thanks for that … its at times like this – when I read the “official” explanation of a Magento related function – that I entirely realise the real value that you and Dave are bringing to the party.
This article is clearly written in Nerd and, I think, by someone for whom English may not be their first language.
So, it will be a pain in the proverbial but I think I’m going to carry on doing manual edits … until perhaps one day, when you issue the video guide …
… because trying to understand this very clever goobledegook is beyond my meagre intellect … I think it’ll be quicker doing 500 product changes manually than trying to work this out !
You’re certainly not alone on this one, Magmi is a bit of a minefield for us non nerds :) I’m sure we will get round to a video guide on this.
Is it worth giving it a try on a test (clone) system to see if you can get it to work, without having to worry about breaking anything?
Every expert was once a beginner
I’ve been looking at this and I should be able to help.
1. You need an extra column in the spreadsheet called “super_attribute_pricing”
2. On the Configurable item line, NOT the simple items, add the options you want for the prices you are changing on that configurable product.
So using the examples in the magmi wiki you would have the following:-
If you are not sure then maybe provide some examples of what changes you want and I can hopefully give you the correct format.
Hope that helps
Looks ok doesn’t it. Did the product actually get created?
I assume that you have got the “Configurable Item Processor” enabled in Magmi?
Only other things I can see and try is that your Size values have spaces in them, try quoting them maybe or test them without spaces.
Although it probably defaults to 0, try putting a :0 on the end.
And one other thing is that the pre-requisites state that the item attribute “Values Required” option to be set to Yes. Not sure that would make any difference, but it’s one to check to be safe.
Before we look at this again, just thought I’d say that I’ve previously used Magmi to import lots of configurable products … but they were all of a type where the variation didn’t change the price – and I have checked Mamgi – it has the Configurable Item processor v1.3.7 box ticked OK.
Tried import again – this time putting single quote around the size in the super attribute pricing (see CSV attached).
Magento Product List shows configurable parent product AND all child products, – the 2XL size is correctly shown as being priced at £25 (as per the CSV import) (see screenshot)
BUT when the product is viewed on Ebay or my web site … the 2XL price is displayed as £20 (see screen shot)
yours in confusion.
Seems you have made progress.
It does look like the spaces in the Size were causing an issue. did you also try double quotes (“) ? Or was the single quote the only option that seemed to work?
For the price on eBay, what attribute are you using to sync across in your Price & Qty policy? Not sure why the website would also be an issue.
I referred this problem to M2ePro support who emailed me to today to advise that its not just a Magento / Magmi problem … there are some settings that have to be set in the M2ePro Price, Quantity and Format policy that are essential to get this to work.
They have referred me to this link where the settings for “Associated Products” are explained :-
I haven’t tried it yet … but I live in hope that it will actually work !!
