Have you tried asking Simple Servers to see what they suggest, I’d be surprised if they couldn’t find a solution for you?
Every expert was once a beginner
Yes I asked simple servers, they confirmed that they can only offer green bars on SSL to single sites.
They have no option for multi stores to have a green bar.
I could find no details for other companies offering green bars on SSL for multi-stores, and simple servers would not offer any help on if there was a company who do , just offered the products they sell. They have an option for multi store up to 3 sites but no green bar.
Has anybody found a solution to this? I cant believe there is no company to offering SSL Green Bars to solve this problem.
That’s surprising that they can’t offer that. I setup our main site on Linode.com and it was a relatively simple task to set the conf file to load a different cert based on the target IP.
(I guess you know that you need a unique IP for each SSL cert)
I would assume that they could do it for sure on a dedicated server, but I’m a but confused why it’s not possible on a shared account (if that’s what you have). I have another shared account with another host with I think 20 or 30 SSL certs on it, although that system is using H-sphere.
There’s definitely no option in cPanel to set that up? (I haven’t used cPanel that much so can’t tell you off the top of my head!).
I am on shared hosting, I will go back to them to see if this can be resolved with dedicated hosting, I will also be in touch with you regarding a moogento install.
I’m going to be needing an SSL myself soon so I haven’t gone through the actual process but I have researched this all before. I become confused quickly because I find conflicting info.
I can readily google and find the following:
-There are many sellers of EV (green bar) Multi Domain SSL Certificates (see instantssl for example).
-Multi Domain SSLs can be hosted on one single IP.
-It is possible to have a Magento Multi-Store on a shared hosting plan using a Multi Domain SSL to cover all domains.
-It is alternatively possible to have a Magento Multi-Store use a single SSL by using one domain for checkout and use (session IDs I think) to carryover themes from the different stores. Probably ideal if having one company/brand but running multi-stores. Shopping carts can even be enabled or not to persist between stores. I’m unsure if that is possible using the above Multi-Domain SSL method.
Am I wrong on any of these points?
Jeramy please update this thread if you get one of those – I’ve never got a multi-domain SSL cert before. I checked a few years ago, and the options seemed to be ‘wildcard cert’ for a significant amount more than multiple singles, but it does seem that these would work well. I’m curious if when you check the cert is shows the other domains as linked, or if google can connect the domains somehow.
Howdy Jeramy, All,
What I would personally suggest is to speak you your web hosting provider.
The reason being is that they’ll know SSL and the different certificates backwards. After a quick explanation of what you’re trying to do, they’ll be able to suggest one or maybe more options for you.
This is exactly what we’ve done for UE. We do have a valid SSL EV certificate in place right now, I’ve just not got around moving the site over to it.
Oh and they’ll also be able to tell you if there are any extra costs involved that you may not have considered, such as fixed IP allocations.
