Hi Guys,

Is there a way the magento back end can be accessed via ipad or another tablet so that only certain features are available.
Currently using ESP and it has no functionality with a tablet which is pretty annoying. My plan is to have a specific login for stock checking, so members of staff can take the tablet into the warehouse and use the live data of stock levels when checking locations etc.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Yes, Magento is web based so will work on any normal web browser,

It might not be completely finger friendly, but as easy as navigating to a website.

As you’ve suggested what you’ll going to be doing, you can trim the number of options down in Magento using user access levels and limit the options that they can see,

If you have an iPad to hand, try your admin panel on it.

We use esp and access it on a tablet using Log Me In. Not perfect but it does work. John

With LogMeIn John, can you actually operate the computer through it remotely so, switching from order to inventory for example, or can you just see a duplicate of what is one the desktop screen and use it purely as a reference?

There are some apps on the app store, not sure about what functionality they have or if they are any good.

Hi All,

Logmein is well cool as it gets past any port forwarding that needs to be done. It’s a paid for app for the iPaid and while I’ve not used the iPad version, I use Logmein on the parents computer.

Personally I prefer VNC which you can use for non-commercial purposes for free here http://www.realvnc.com/download/ and there are plenty of free VNC Viewing apps in the app store.

Oh and yes, it’s basically your computer on an iPad or even on your phone. Which is very cool.

WOW – just installed VNC. It’s brilliant.

Thanks for that Matt

Hey Steve,

I’m curious, what would you like to see when accessing Admin on an iPad? I’m working on an admin theme which adapts to mobile. I think on mobile I’d just need to see a more general view, maybe order id, date, skus, color=status. Any more that I missed, or would you want to see the whole caboodle?

This is actually a pending feature for stockEasy. We’re designing it for iPad Mini, you can go around the warehouse and scan items, see the current stock levels and saved location, edit them where needed.

Do you have internet connection throughout the warehouse?
