Hello chaps,

I was bit wondering that is there any option to reduce the image size automatically for thumbnail and small image. Due to large size of images website get too slow.

I am looking at the below extension, is it worth it ?

http://www.magentocommerce.com…..mizer.html

Thanks,

Hi Ilyas,

Wooohhaaa thats $200!

While I would agree that this would be worth it, would I personally pay $200 smackers for this?

If my website pays for itself and warrants the expensive, yes maybe.

However….

The step I would make before this (wayyyyy before this) is to add in a CDN to Magento.

Why?

A CDN is likely to give you a much easier and quicker win that fiddling with the image sizes because you’re off loading the delivery of the images to remote servers around the world and you also get the bonus that M2EPro takes notice of the media settings and your eBay listings will be faster to load as well.

A CDN sounds complicated and expensive but in reality it’s not.

It’s 3 user settings in Magento and $9 a month using MaxCDN (which is what we use here on the UE site).

I’m rendering a tutorial at the moment for MaxCDN on my computer which explains what a CDn is, why you need one and how to set them up (how to create a pull zone and 3 the settings in Magento) and we’ll be publishing it shortly, however it’s dead easy to do see here:

http://www.maxcdn.com/solution…..gento-cdn/

Also note if you go to the pricing page using our link here https://understandinge.com/gotomax click on the blue “See pricing and plans button “and wait on that page for 20 seconds or so you should get a discount option appear in the top header bar for a code “max20” for a 20% discount, click the green bar and you get the discount automatically applied.

So to recap, would I consider that extension, yes, but much later on. A CDN is a cheaper and bigger win.

Plus means you can stay on a cheaper web hosting package for longer, deliver images AND JS & CSS faster globally which means a faster loading website for your customers.

Hope that helps,

Matt
