We have now had our staging site upgraded from 1.3.1 to 22.214.171.124 – yippee !!!
Developer now wants me to confirm acceptance – or let him know of any revisions needed before final payment.
I have visited front end and checked that stuff works when I click on it, that social media buttons lead where they should, put a test purchase in my basket etc. (Since it’s a staging site I obviously can’t check that payment works).
I have looked at backend and all seems good (some new options that weren’t in our old version).
An ything else I should be checking? Am I missing something important – I don’t understand code but I assume if all the usual things I use still work then all is good?
Any advice appreciated.
update – someone in another forum suggested Magereport.com – I vaguely remember using it a long time ago but had forgotten of its existence.
Just in case it’s helpful to other (novice!) magento site owners – it scans your site and gives you a list of any problems (and helpfully suggests solutions in some cases.)
Upgrade was much less traumatic than we feared. Couple of issues – the main problem is we are still failing Trustwave pci dss test for credit cards – although now failing on 2 main issues rather than the 30 previously!
The error message says: The errors relate to FTP port 21 and POP3 (E-mail) port 110 being open on the system, and having an unencrypted channel where credentials are entered in plain text. Remediation would be to enforce cryptography on these channels such as Secure FTP or Secure POP3 (typically over port 995)
The developer says that should be resolved when the site goes live – “we need to change secure url in system->configuration->web->secure url” – means little to me – he might as well be speaking in Martian but he seems happy it will work.
The other issue is with our sales reports which we use fairly regularly – to check where we are against same time last year/2 years ago, which products sell best at which time of year etc. Although we have all our historic data in orders/invoices etc, when I try to generate a sales report it says no records found :(
I have queried with developer but I had signed off on the upgrade (and paid) before I found this issue so just hoping he will sort it.
