Has anyone else suddenly had there Magento admin and frontend turn to Arabic this week, just wondering if this is something I need to be concerned about or if its some kind of automatic update glitch as I haven’t updated anything myself manually this week.

I managed to change the locale to make it English again but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue this week?

Cheers Pete

Hi Pete,

If you had said any other language than Arabic I would have suggested that it may have been done by accident or in error. However Arabic is the first language in the list of locale options and this is what is normally picked when a backup is restored.

We’ve run into this ourselves a couple of times and while funny when it happens, getting out of it if you don’t know where to change the setting is awkard, which is why me made the video below.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the video, you’ve just jogged my memory through mentioning backups.

Although I haven’t restored I did switch the backup source from my web hosting account to Dropbox due to disk space issues the day before this happened, so perhaps a heads up for anyone else who decides to backup to Dropbox to watch out for language changes!

Oh Wow, thanks for the heads up Pete, I wouldn’t have thought switching the backup source would have done that but there you go.
