Hi guys,

I’ve been following UnderstandingE for a year but this is the first time I’m dipping my toes in the forum.

We’re working on launching a new Magento site based on the Ultimo Theme. The standard designs on Ultimo look great but I’m wondering if anyone has an example, either their site or someone else’s, of a customised site based on this theme?

I want to give my designer some ideas for what can be done with the theme.

Thanks in advance.

Jamie

That’s crazy – they’ve done a super job modifying it. Only way I can tell it’s Ultimo is by looking at the image URL paths.

Any of you guys know if it is possible to create a product page like this without any modification or custom code, so basically split the product page in 2 blocks instead of the 3 you see on all demos?

Any input on this would be highly appriciated

Also how much flexibility is there on creating CMS pages the way you want? Do you need to follow a grid of 3 or 4 again or can you edit it however you want?

Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Hello

No code needed to split the product page into 2, it’s just an option within the theme settings.

Re. the CMS pages, you can do anything you want, the only limitation is HTML/CSS.

Thanks for your reply Ben.

Maybe one of you guys can give me some advice here. Would very much appreciate your help and/or any input:

I have designed my site (not professionally) and am looking to get someone to make my design into a website. Have come across this agency: http://www.flickmedialtd.com/ They offer a 1050 pound build of a site with custom code.

I have also been offered to have my design implemented into Ultimo Theme for 200-250 pounds by a guy I have found in people pr hour.

Both seem very cheap. With regards to the agency and the custom code I have gotten in touch with the guys who own the following site: http://cloudresidential.com/ and they were very happy with the companies services.

What would you guys do, go with implementation for 200-250 pounds in the Ultimo theme or go for a custom code site which seems to be very cheap with an agency. Also are the prices for both things just too low, a scam, or could they be the real deal?

Hi Sebastian,

I haven’t come across Flick Media before but I had a look at their site and there portfolio work looks good but their ecommerce site work is minimal and maybe id be seeing if they have any experience with the marketplaces and M2E.

As for Ultimo the hardest part for any designer is the artwork piece. If you have already done a lot of this hard work by doing the deign yourself then this would bring the cost right down, and is just a case of putting the pieces in the right place.

Also depending on where the chap from people per hour is from would tell you more about how expensive he is.

If it was me I would prefer to have a site built using Ultimo due to what we have covered now here with UnderstandingE, but ultimately the decision is up to you. Ask lots of questions to them both but I don’t think either sound like a scam.

Hey Sebastian beres to make changes in ultimo theme you just need to hope into admin side categories and in design settings make it one column layout and you are all set!! and for 200 pound with ultimo customization sounds pretty much awesome deal!!

rush, thanks for your suggestion.
@Sebastian Beres, I agree with Dave. The decision is yours. And there’s no harm from having your design outsourced through an agency or get a custom code at a lower price. It’s just a matter of checking the credentials and reviews.
