Excellent

Hi,
Really basic question I think but I can’t see past it!
I’m following the course to build a Magento website and I’m on the tutorial for “Setting Magento to use the Responsive Theme”.
My setup within Magento / Simple Servers is:
Main hosting account is (for example) frog.uk.com – which has all the magento stuff on it.
I have 2 other domain names: 1) toad.uk.com and 2) tadpole.co.uk
I seem to have a default “Home” page already for frog.uk.com (can’t recall making that so must be some kind of default). When I type in frog.uk.com as a URL I get a basic default page which is what I see in the tutorial.
The same does not happen for either toad.uk.com OR tadpole.co.uk.
I want to create my new website based on the toad.uk.com domain name. How do I get the same base “Home” page to appear for toad.uk.com when I type in toad.uk.com as a URL?
SECONDLY, because Simple Servers / Magento default domain is frog.uk.com, everything I do I presume will go towards this domain. So if I add the theme (having just gone through this short tutorial) I will be adding it to a website with the URL frog.uk.com.
I want my main WEBSITE to be toad.uk.com and not frog.uk.com. How do I do this (and also retain everything that I am doing on eBay and Amazon?
Help much appreciated :)

Hi Susan,
You need a multi site set up to run three websites through one magento install.
Firstly to need to add the additional domains as add on domains in cpanel (you need to make your simple server account is the right level to allow this)
Then create new websites in the manage stores section and create additional root categories as different websites cant share a root category.
Then there is some code that you need to put into the htaccess file.
You will keep all your m2epro stuff this way.
Hope this helps
Paul
P.S I can help you do this if you require.

Hi Paul,
Wow, that’s a great reply (some of it I didn’t really understand lol!) and thanks for it!
I have to admit it does sound a bit daunting and if I can take you up on your offer of help that would be great. Whats the best way of making contact?
I can give my phone numbers or email but here might not be the most appropriate place? Please let me know.

Well, after quite an intensive session with Paul later… we have a website homepage + test page with 1 product from Magento using the new Ultimo theme!!!
Your help was enormous Paul and quite literally I KNOW I could not have done that without you!!!
Thanks again… on with the Magento upgrade to 1.9 now :) (Aargghhh!)

Guy and Sue
