Hi Guys

I am having a problem getting the Bullets to appear on the product page. I have run through the setup several times, and I am sure I have done as instructed in the tutorial.

What I have noticed is that if I have anything in product Short Description ,then this appears where the bullet points should be. (if Short description blank then nothing appears)

I have the code installed, in the correct directory. I have the Attribute for Bullets 1 -5 in the product pages, and the examples I am testing are populated with bullet point data.

Any suggestions what I can check?

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike,

There is an alternative way to get the Magento attributes, finding that for you a mo.

Hi Mike,

Try this code instead:

PS. I’m 50/50 on this working, so if it doesn’t, don’t panic. There is another way as well :)

OK Matt, thanks for this …..seeing this code like this has helped me see the error of my way!

In setting up the new directories under child, I spelled catalog in the Englsih way (catalogue), correcting this mad the bullets appear. HORAY!

One other question now, I am getting the >chevron appearing instead of a bullet point, can this be changed. See attached screenshot

Hi Mike,

This will most likely be a CSS edit I think but will ask Matt

Howdy Mike,

Ah thats the second time in a week we’ve seen that spelling “catalogue” that has caused issues.

I’ll go back and edit the video and add a HUGE green box to that tutorial so no-one else runs into the same issue.

For the bullet points, yes thats right the arrow > is the bullet point icon that Ultimo uses and I set the HTML especially to show those.

If you don’t want that to happen, then where it says this in the PHP for the bullet points section:

<div class="std">

Change it to this:

<div class="">

And hit save.

That’ll remove them, but leave you with no visible bullet points.

To get them to show, you’ll need to add the following CSS to your custom.css file in:

/skin/frontend/ultimo/child/css/custom.css

And the CSS is:

.product-view .short-description ul.product-bullets {
list-style-type: disc;
margin: 15px 0 15px 15px;
}
.product-view .short-description ul.product-bullets li {
margin: 0;
}

Once changed, it’ll look like this the image at the bottom.

Hi Mike,

I’ve edited that video tutorial and added in a nice big red box about the spelling.

If you spot anything like that again, do let us know :)

Matt

PS. It’s rendering and will be uploaded later today.

Hi Matt,

I have been going through the course and its brilliant as always. I have come to installing the code in the view.phtml file and found the section where i should install the code which has now moved to line 295 in the latest version.

When i install the code the bullets don’t appear.

I have disabled the cache and flushed it. I have deleted the file and re done it twice and nothing happens.

The bullets are in my products and the attributes are spelled in exactly the same way as you suggest as i followed a previous course.

Has an update meant that the code no longer works?

Please help,

John

Hi John,

I asked Matt about this, and it seems weird as it seems to work for others, and I see you have seen the comment from Matt regarding the alternative code. Have you got a link I could take a look at?
