Product Grid Extension that Saves Custom Layout

I was going through the Magento Connect store today to see if there are any better Product Grid extension then the free one we are using. One really main feature that seems to be missing on all of them is the ability to save custom Product Grid layouts. For example, if I am working on one set of product types, I really need a layout that is very different from another set of product types due to their significant difference in attributes. This would seem like a very natural and I would think simple implementation to an advanced product grid manager. Has anyone seen one that can do this? Is there some other clever way to mimic this functionality that I am not thinking about?

Any pointers to this would be greatly appreciated.

You have to start with a plan to know what you will be deviating from.

Howdy Richard,

I’ve not seen anything like that, maybe suggesting a “profiles” option (with a suggested use-case) in this page might be an idea?

With regards to the suggested “use case”, it would be something like this:

We have many different types of products in Magento, for example “air filters” and “tyres”.

The attributes that we would like to show in the product grid between these two product types are quite different, so having a dropdown where we can switch between grid profiles would be very helpful.

So for example, when selecting the “air filters” grid, we would see attributes relating to these products and when selecting “tyres” we would see magento attributes relating to tyres instead.

Hey Richard, we’re working on this exact thing, as an update to powerUser, when integrating with shipEasy and stockEasy, to choose specific profiles for each grid in Orders and Catalog. I think this’ll be really useful, with an option to set the ‘login profile’ per user.

  • shipEasy - process multiple orders with no sweat & get a visual sales overview easily
