Excellent

Hello,
I’ve been trying off and on for quite some time to install the Advanced Admin Grids but without success.
First of all, I changed all my Flie and Folder Permissions because it says to do so, please see attached – Permissions on ALL Files and Folders.jpg:
It also gives the same advice in the Simple Servers knowledgebase:
Go inside your Magento folder & change permissions of ALL FILES & FOLDERS RECURSIVELY to “777”.
Thankfully Matt was able to assist in getting the Permissions reset but I still do not know what Permissions to change.
I’d like to know – exactly – what Files and what Folders need their Permissions changing. Whether I make these changes myself ( which I’d prefer to do) or ask Simple Servers it should, surely, be documented somewhere just what changes need to be made. Letting the Hosting company make changes without knowing what the changes are cannot be good practice, or is it? I’d be interested to know what others think.
So, I’m stuck:-(
1. File and Folder Permissions are wrong and I don’t know which to change.
2. Magento doesn’t want to accept the Extension Key.
3. I’m confused over what is meant by Connection String and Installation Path and just what should be entered and whether this would Automate everything.
Any assistance would be appreciated as I cannot move on and haven’t a hope of installing M2E Pro successfully.
Regards

Hi David,
Ok, do you have M2E installed or is this just for the grids extension?
Can you make a backup of the site and when you have done, lob me over some login details and FTP details via email and I’ll take a looksee for you.
Note: I am in the middle of coding at the moment so might not be straight away and do make a backup first!
Matt

Hello Matt,
I did send an email with the details that you requested, which I hope that you received. Juct checking as I know that you are busy coding and answering all the many issues that seem to arise on a daily/hourly basis, so, no response necessary unless for any reason you didn’t receive my last email with the logins that you require.
Regards
David

YAY!!:-)
I did it. After two weeks of trying, I did it. Enhanced Admin Grids is now installed.
For those who might encouter similar problems, the answer in the end was simple:
The Installation Path under Settings in Magento Connect Manager needed to be only a forward slash ‘/’
I had tried everything under the sun; changing Permissions, differing Installation Paths, and all manner of suggestions that I found on the Web but all to no avail until I must have had a ‘Eureka moment’ and entered the forward slash ‘/’. For the first time ever Magento responded with ‘Settings Succesfully Saved’. Thereafter it was a simple task to install the Enhanced Admins Grid.
The same may not be true for everyone but I’m sharing it because it worked for me.
Regards – and Matt, you are off the hook:-)
