Hi

I am looking to create a page which is a gallery of images for fabric swatches … one of my manufacturer produces items which come in a huge range of 79 fabrics choices so it seems over the top to add the images to each of the products. I thought I could create a CMS page which is all the fabric swatch images and just add a link to each page.

Anyone got a good extension for this – or a template for a CMS page – which I could use?

Many thanks

Hey Gillian,

This sounds like it would work quite well, I don’t know much about this, but will have a look around and see if anything jumps out as being a fit for this.

If anyone else has any recommendations then please let us know

I am thinking of trying SM Gallery to solve my problem of fabric swatch images which I need on numerous products. Rather than upload every fabric swatch image to every product, I thought a gallery of images and a link on each product page – saying Click here to look at fabric choices – might be more streamlined. However, I don’t know if SM Gallery which is compatible with Magento 1.7 will work with Magento 1.8. Does anyone have any experience of this extension?

Much obliged.

All the best

Gillian

Hi Gillian,

Not sure if this extension would be useful to you http://www.magentocommerce.com…..watch.html

Reading in the reviews it apparently has an option to do a mass import of swatches. I’ve been corresponding with this company a bit and am very impressed so far.

Hi

I got SM Gallery to work the way I wanted it to – just tricky getting the right image folder …

http://homefurniturescotland.c…..od_fabrics

I didn’t want to have the fabric images on every single product page as it takes up way too much space (there are 79 of them) so this seems like the best option for me.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hi

The Magentech.com SM Gallery free extension that I am using on my furniture websites is excellent for displaying fabric choices for conservatory furniture. The problem I now have is that I would like to have more than one of these galleries. Anyone got an extension which will allow more than one gallery per website. I cannot see how to make this gallery work for more than one range of images.

Any insight would be most welcome.

All the best

Howdy Gillian,

Errr I’m not sure, maybe asking the Magentech chaps if this is possible with their extension might be an idea?

I would agree with the “Annette Winter”. What you need is a extension for color swatches. The extensions like Image Gallery are just for adding product photo and display them in light-box.

Hi

The SM Gallery that I am using is working really well but someone suggested I could use it for more thn one gallery by adding something to the galley.xml file. However when I try to add it, I get something wrong. Can someone help me out here?

the gallery.xml file is as follows:

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<layout version="1.0">

<default>

<reference name="head">

<action method="addCss"><stylesheet>sm/gallery/css/gallery.css</stylesheet></action>

<action method="addCss"><stylesheet>sm/gallery/css/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.css</stylesheet></action>

</reference>

</default>

<gallery_index_index>

<reference name="content">

<block type="gallery/list" name="gallery.list.default"></block>

</reference>

</gallery_index_index>

</layout>

and I need to add

<block type="gallery/list" name="gallery.list2">

<action method="setConfig">

<value>

<title>Gallery 2</title>

<folder>your_path_folder_image</folder>

</value>

</action>

</block>

Can someone please make sure I put it in the right place?
