First off just wanted to thank you for the awesomely designed guides for us to learn by.
I’ve been going through some of them and they have been quite helpful. Thank you.
Now, I have a question for anyone that might have experienced the same problem I’m having at the moment.
So I installed the Grids extension and logged out of Magento Connect.
When I tried to log into my Admin back end for the first time after installing the extension, I’m unable to do so.
I get the following error message on a generic Magento default skin page:
There has been an error processing your request
Exception printing is disabled by default for security reasons.
Error log record number: 1302101623469
There isn’t any other option.
The homepage seems to be working fine.
The only thing I did different from the guide is that I used the “create a backup” option in the Magento Connect Manager.
I used the “system backup” option.
Other than that I did everything else as per the guide.
Now I’ve Googled the above error message and I haven’t found any solid solution to this. There are a couple of guys recommended some code alterations, while others are saying absolutely NOT to listen to the former! A
Is there something silly that I’m missing?
Is altering of the code really necessary?
Or perhaps is there a way for me to uninstall the extension and go on without it?
I can’t do anything in the back end without logging in.
Any guidance of course, will be greatly appreciated.
Just wanted to let you know that shortly after posting this message, I was able to learn how to uninstall an extension.
Below is the link you wold go to in order to access your Magento Connect manager.
You can go straight to: yoursite.com/downloader/index.php to get to your Magento Connect manager
Of course, where is says “yoursite” above, you would simply type in your own website’s URL.
Once you are in the manager, you scroll all the way down to find the grids admin extension and use the drop-down menu next to the name and select “uninstall”.
After the uninstall, I’m able to get back to my admin page and log in without any issues….Thankfully
I would still like to use this great tool however.
Any ideas from anyone?
Hey J K
Hmmm this sounds weird, I personally haven’t come across this before, have you tried installing it again as we do in the guides just to see if the error replicates? Just thinking maybe a timeout error occurred during the install.
Also just double checking you cleared all the caches etc

Magento protects the true error with that page.
If you goto to your “errors” folder on the site there is a file called “local.xml.sample” rename this to “local.xml” and then go back to the site and you’ll be able to see what the true error is.
Note: Once you done this and found/solve the error, rename that file back again to “local.xml.sample”
