Does Magento support a barcode scanner for receiving inventory and taking stock? Or, can anyone recommend an extension that would do the same? Thanks!

Hey Mike

You might find this thread interesting https://understandinge.com/forum/getting-started/barcode-scanner-suggestions/

We recommend a couple of extensions called shipEasy and pickPack from @Jim @ Moogento and these work fantastically with scanners and can really streamline your shipping procedures.

Hi Mike, we have an extension called stockEasy coming early next week which supports easy importing of stock. It does import via CSV, with a barcode scanner you could just scan into a spreadsheet then enter the qty. When done just import that sheet. I could look at adding in direct barcode scanning as well if you like, please drop me a line at moogento, I’ll be interested to hear the best way of setting this up for you.

Dave and Jim, thanks for those replies.

Jim – Is this StockEasy extension going to do the same thing that Magmi does? I am just getting into the Magento site now, so I am still exploring all of the options for what we are going to need to make us as efficient as possible.

Easier, there’s a button in the Catalog page to ‘Upload Stock File’ which is a 1-step upload of the csv. You can also enter qty of items direct in the Catalog page (and choose to ‘increase stock by’ or ‘set stock level to’ – easier if you’re getting delivered a certain number, then no need to do arithmetic for each item vs. current stock).
