Sales invoices in Magento are adding tax onto pricing that already has tax incorporated incorporated.

Hi,

I have just had a customer query an email invoice generated from Magento from an eBay order.

Looking into the order/invoice in Magento I can see that the systems added VAT onto the product price in the invoice to get a sub total although the price in the system already incorporates VAT and is showing correctly in the general product information screen.

How do I resolves this and also am I able to revise and resend the invoices that have already been raised incorrectly by Magento?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

This could be a number of things, most likely it’s one of two things, the tax settings in Magento or the tax settings set on the listing which M2E set or took notice of.

Are all the other sales like this from eBay?

Hi Matt,

This is the strange thing, I have had previous orders that have invoiced correctly.

As I haven’t changed any settings within Magento from following your guides the only thing that I can pin point it to is that the product sold which have produced an incorrect invoice have all been created via Magmi upload into Magento and this as only occurred since updating to the new version of M2E.

Howdy Michael,

That is a little odd, but at least we can pin point it down to that one listing.

This does lead me to suspect it’s related to the VAT settings that are set on that specific listing.

See what happens on the next sale and also the next couple of sales that come in for other products too.

Hi Matt,

Sorry I should have stated but this as happened on several orders now and over several different listings but only one customers noticed so far…..

I am only using the one price, qty & format policy in M2E for all my listings onto eBay and I can’t see anything out of sort from following the guides, I have also looked into the configuration section in Magento although not sure what is the right and what is the wrong settings attached screen dump of what I am looking at.

Under the Sales main menu item, there is a submenu item called tax. Double check that all those areas are configured correctly and that your products are using the right tax class(es). Remember you have have product tax classes and customer tax classes.

Thanks Richard,

I hadn’t checked in the sales menu, although everything looks to be in order.

Michael,

I am in the US, so our tax situation is simpler as we always list without tax, so the only other idea I have is to check your eBay preferences if this is only happening there. Is it possible that M2E Pro is listing with tax as is outlined in the tutorials, but your eBay site preferences are set also to add tax?
