Hope this is in the right area but please move if not.
We currently have all our images on a server and I can then link for new listings on ebay, emazon and EKM. (Magento at some point)

SKUXXXXX_1-Main Image
SKUXXXXX_2 -Extra image
SKUXXXXX_3 – extra image

Matt said I can use Magentos image system to submit to ebay but just wondered how Magento stores the images.
I am probably going to get Magento up and running beside our current operation before making a switch.
Ahh if it were all that easy.
One switch B-)

It’s getting easier with Matt and Dave’s help.
Thanks Guys

Morning Simon,

Magento stores images by names in a folder structure.

If you have a look at the image below, you’ll see that for the image called “ebayinclogo_blogfeatured2-570×398.jpg” it has put it into a folder structure of “/media/catalog/product/e/b“.

magento-images-storage.pngImage Enlarger

It uses the first two letters to do this, so for your image paths, it’ll put them in “/media/catalog/product/s/k“.

Tip: Magento does not handle duplicate images with the same names. If you add a image called “image1.jpg” and then add another image called “image1.jpg”, the second image will overwrite the first image.

Does that make sense?

Thanks Matt.
Very helpful.
The way I use the images they are all unique, as the sku’s.
I have been listening and watching the guides on and they are great.
Very informative and a little humerous, takes the fright and fear out of it a little.
A great approach to something so complex.
