I am having an issue when updating stock levels using Magmi Import. The import files are updating successfully, but I need to add to the current stock qty, not replace the current stock qty.

e.g…..
I have an animal rucksack in stock in magento with a qty of 5.
I receive a delivery with another 10 units of this animal rucksack, so I now have 15 units in my warehouse.
I import these 10 new units via magmi which updates the qty in magento to 10, when I need it to update the qty to 15.

I hope that makes sense lol. If anyone knows how I can import via magmi, which adds stock to the current qty it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there Ben

I have just double checked this over on the Magmi Wiki and have found this:

Relative Stock update (since 0.7.12)
This handy feature enable to set stock relatively for exising items (adding & removing units)
To specify relative stock update, only put a + or – before the qty value, magmi will perform relative stock operation.

So it looks like you would just put a +symbol before the quantity value then Magmi will add this to your existing stock levels.

Give it a try on a test product and see if that does the trick

Let us know how you get on

Hi Dave, that sounds great but I am trying to do it but whenever I enter the “+” in front of the quantity the “+” disappears when I go to the cell?

Hi Ben

I couldn’t have put it better than Greg did. That is a bit of a problem with excel is by default it is expecting you to run a formula. By setting the cell formatting to text, this should do the trick.

ah thanks guys but I’ve sorted it before I read your posts. I had to add a custom format as “+”0;;;

This will now automatically put a + in front of the numbers/qty.

Cheers for the help. It added stock qty successfully so is another file I’ll keep in my arsenal.
