Hi,
I am sure this is a common problem but not sue how to get around it.
I have set up a csv export file that transports my order information directly into myhermes with the help of the pick pack extension by moogento. This works great apart from the phone number field as it removes the ‘0’. I get why it does this but is there anyway through pick pack that we can automate this to put a zero at the beginning? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks
Cliff

Hmmmm this sounds like a cell formatting issue.

Have you tried setting the phone number field to format cell > text? By doing this it should read the first 0. If it is set to Number then most databases will read a beginning 0 as meaning nothing and will auto remove.

Have you tried this already?

Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes, i already tried that but the zero doesn’t reappear. I can fix it in excel with the concatenate function but would prefer not to have to do that after every export.
Any other ideas?

Hi Dave,
I’ve just noticed that one phone number shows a ‘0’ at the beginning and it is the one that has a space after the area code.
eg 01706 123456 will show correctly but 01706123456 will miss of the zero! I tested it by changing the format on another phone number and it works. I assume it recognises it as a text field when a space has been inserted?

Ahhh that must be it, can you run a rule to add a space in the cell after every 4th character to try to automate this? Sounds like you found the answer though

Yeah, that would be ideal but not sure how. This would have to be done before the export I imagine because as soon as excel gets it the zero is removed. I’ve emailed jim to see if he has any ideas.
Thanks
Cliff
