Sorry, looked around Magneto System Config a couple of times to change these default settings, and can’t find them. Can you help please?

1: On the website product page: Set the default quantity in ‘add to cart’ section, from zero to 1

2: Within the ‘Quick Create’ section when making multi-variation products. How do I have the default setting of ‘autogenerate’ for SKU and Website options turned off?

Thanks for your help.
Still enjoying the challenges of the Guides – well done guys.

Hi Steve

1. you cant change this from within magentos backend, you have to edit the file to make it default to 1 in the quantity box, Ive cvhanged mine the other day but the file that needs to be changed could be dependent on your theme, magento version.

2. When in the quick create part of the configurabel options, just un tick the check box next to the SKU you then put in your own sku before creating the product

Hi Calum,
Thanks for your help.

1. Really? Edit the file? Would have thought something that basic would have been easy to set the default! Just shows eh?
I’m using the Ultimo theme and Magento Community ver. 1.8.1.0

2. Yep, I realise I could un-check the box manually, but wanted it permanently unchecked if possible. Also wondered if it being permanently checked would have any effect when using Magmi to enter products. Do you know if it does? Don’t want it to ‘auto-generate’ the SKU or Title when I do use Magmi – and have to go through each one manually to sort it out.

Again – thanks for your input. Appreciate it.
Cheers

Hi Steve

It looks as though there is a way to do this in the backend after all, though it would be simpler if this was set to 1 automatically.

http://dltr.org/blog/magento/2…..rom-0-to-1

Ive not tried this myself, if it works let me know.

Been a while since i used magmi, and only ever tried it twice. But you need the sku for a magmi import so that wont auto generate as you supply this, not sure about the title if you only use magmi to upload a sku only. Is there not a minimum dataset that needs to be uploaded to create a new product

Hi Guys.
Re: Zero to one setting. Will check that out now to see how it can be done.

Re: ‘Auto generate’ for SKU & Website Title. My biggest concern is leaving the confirmed checkboxes when doing a Magmi upload of new products. I would like to add 2 columns to the data sheet disabling them. Matt, I watched your Guide on Magmi and finding column names and values. It covered the dropdown box values, but not the checkboxes. I’ve pasted the code below, can you tell me what I should use for the column name, and what value is ‘disabled’. Thanks

SKU

<input id="simple_product_sku" name="simple_product[sku]" value="21ss" type="text" disabled="disabled" class=" input-text required-entry">
<input type="checkbox" id="simple_product_sku_autogenerate" name="simple_product[sku_autogenerate]" value="1" onclick="toggleValueElements(this, this.parentNode)" checked="checked">
<label for="simple_product_sku_autogenerate">Autogenerate</label>

WEBSITE TITLE

<input id="simple_product_name" name="simple_product[name]" value="Fitted Sexy Club Dress with Metal Clasp Neck Detail" type="text" disabled="disabled" class=" input-text required-entry">
<input type="checkbox" id="simple_product_name_autogenerate" name="simple_product[name_autogenerate]" value="1" onclick="toggleValueElements(this, this.parentNode)" checked="checked">
<label for="simple_product_name_autogenerate">Autogenerate</label>

Yay Calum !
Well done in finding that Magento instruction. It did the trick perfectly. So simple ! Even the OP said Magento tech support baffled him with code, and all he need to do was these steps:
Magento admin > System > Catalog > Inventory > Product Stock Options
Find “Minimum Qty Allowed in Shipping Cart’ and click ‘Add Minimum Qty’ and add a minimum quantity you want to show as default to the appropriate customer group(s) and then save it.
It was ‘1’ in my case and assigned to ‘All Groups’ Customer Group.

Thanks! Was working on Matt & Dave’s mantra – don’t have the customer thinking, or give them time to realize they can’t afford it!

Howdy Steve,

I believe it’s sku_autogenerate with a value of 1 or 0.

But you’ll need to test it on a product first to confirm.

Spot on Steve, customers can be dangerous if we let them think too hard for too long :) ha ha

Hi Matt –
Ran a test and it worked well. In a column headed sku_autogenerate and set Value as 0
It did not alter/autogenerate changes to my SKU or Website Title

Thanks for that

Hi Steve,

Perfect.

Always test with just one product first and see if it works, then you can add it to the others or go back and try again without affecting lots of inventory.

Sounds daft, but you awlays need a test product called, Steve, Matt, or yourname to play with.
