Hi Guys,
I cant seem to get this to work.
I have an existing magento store, and now need to add the eBay marketplace to my store.
I have gone to System – manage stores.
From here I have tried to set up a new store (create new store), but when I do this and set it to eBay it then changes all my sales from my website to show that they too are from eBay.
I have been through the tut that shows how to set up the eBay store as the first store, but do you have something to show me how to set up the ebay store when there is already a store currently in place?

Thanks Stacey

Hi Stacey,

You’ll want to use a different store view (the option on the right) rather than a store.

While you’re creating it, set it as being disabled.

Magento will then ignore it, but the storeview will be still be available to assign orders to in Sell on eBay > Configuration > Accounts on the orders tab for your eBay account.

Hi Matt,
I have just shot you an email so I could send attachments to show what is happening (these have my customers details hence I have not posted here).
Basically I set it up for ‘store view’ but it then changes ALL my orders to show that they have come from eBay, whereas some are from the web site.

perhaps I am missing something basic, but I went through the forum links you sent and believe I have set it up correctly.

thanks Stacey

Hi Stacey,

Ah one of those links I sent you might have been from the premium members forum and wouldn’t have worked, apologies I get everything returned in my searches.

I’ve seen your screenshots thanks!

So you need to make sure that the website is set to the website store “Lilys playhouse”, you can do this by clicking on the Store Name column links (either of them) in System > Manage Stores and setting the website to use the “Lilys playhouse” store view.

Then website orders will come in from your website store view.

In the other storeview for eBay, go to Sell on eBay > Configuration > the Policies tab > Click on your eBay account > on the orders tab on the left, set the storeview there to the eBay one and hit save.

Do note that this won’t retro fit the previous orders, just new ones.

Also note that you will most likely need to:

1. Set ALL pages to be use all sites in CMS > Pages (click into one and you’ll see what I mean in the store views section)
2. Set ALL CMS blocks to use all sites in CMS > Static Blocks (similar to the above)
3. Clear the caches in System > Cache management
4. And reindex as well in System > Index Management

Hi Matt,

Well I have to say that was a bit of a disaster.

I went through the steps all looked to be fine and then I got the dreaded 404 error page.
client denied by server configuration: /home/lilyspla/public_html/app/etc/local.xml

I have had to have the hosting roll back the website before the changes (it was either that or pay a developer to go and fix the changes back).

So, it appears this doesn’t work for my site do you have any other suggestions? I am really trying to avoid paying a developer to do this for me and this seems to be the only sticking point. Confused

Hi Matt,
Really hoping you are able to offer some assistance here, I know I am asking a lot, but would you perhaps be willing to look at my magento back end for me to see what I am doing wrong?
I have another web site that I would like to add M2E and Magmi to, but want to get this one right first.

Thanks Stacey

Whenever I have received the 404 error I contacted the hosting provider, gave them details and they fixed the permissions to eliminate the 404 error.
Have you tried that?

Hi Mike,
Yes I did. They do not do any ‘developer’ work and so to have the files fixed costs me $110.
The only thing the host will do is roll back the website 24hrs, but then you loose the sales information etc from that time..
I guess the other thing is understanding why the 404 error occurred in the first place.
Cheers Stacey

Hi Stacey,

I’m not entirely sure why that would have given the 404 message.

When creating the new storeview, did you go back tot he website view and ensure that it was set to the original store view?

Hi Stacey,

All that is happening is that when you add the new store view is that Magento is switching the website to use the new storeview.

So as suggested, go to System > Manage Stores, click ont he website view and set the website to use the previous storeview and category tree (probably called “Default Category”) and press save.

You can also set the new store view to be disabled as well.

Once you’ve done this, reindex the website in System > Index Management ( it will give you a message at the top about this) and then check the website.

Hi Matt,
I have done what you have suggested above but with the same results, my category is not in any of the store views.
Is it possible that the M2E I have installed is somehow corrupt?
As I believe I am doing the steps correctly but keep encountering these problems, I am having to have my Host reset my website again, which means I am loosing another 24hr period of sales records.

Thanks Stacey

Hi Stacey,

I’m sure this is something daft we’re missing together. Probably best we have a look together as I know you;’re struggling with this.

Would you like to pop an email over with your phone number (landline preferable as I get those calls for free) and I’ll drop you a line first thing in the morning?
