Processing refunds through Magento

I would like to know the correct procedure for processing refunds for eBay orders that have come in to Magento through using M2E Pro.

Is there a way of automating it so Magento issues the refund through PayPal? Or do we need to issue the refund through PayPal and create a credit memo in Magento?

Thank you

Hey Saisho

This is one of the next guides we have to do as part of the order management section.

I am not 100% on this as I haven’t played with it yet but I believe if you cancel an order in Magento then it will refund back through Paypal automatically.

I will check with @Matthew Ogborne for definite and also try and get the refund video guide recorded asap.

Howdy Dave & Saisho,

Ah as of today (and I say today as I know M2E are changing this) you’ll need to make the refund over at PayPal manually.

While this sounds like a pain in the rear, it’s actually quite easy as there is a link to the PayPal payment on the order which takes you straight to PayPal and the exact payment.

Once the refund has been made, you should be able to cancel the order.

Hi guys, ive done a lot of ebay and amazon refunds. Credit Memo > Refund offline > then click the link to the paypal/amazon transaction. And refund either in PayPal or Amazon. Not as bad as it sounds, but slower than my last 2nd Gen system. Surely someone could sort that, i know i would pay for the extension if it was under £40.

Hi Henry

Exactly what I was thinking, previously being spoiled by software that can handle the refund as whole without having to go off to Paypal. Agreed the link to Paypal is handy but yea I think an extension or just an M2E added feature would be the best way forward.
