After viewing some 29 videos and reading many forum listings, as I understand this whole system:

UnderstandingE is the front-end to the eCommerce MAGENTO system for a shopping-cart web site.
M2E-Pro is the back-end between Magento and eBay/Amazon/web-site/etc., and will synchronize stock levels.

I think the costs are:
UnderstandingE L49.95 one-time charge
Magento – free – open-source. Many add-ons from a large community, some free, others not.
M2E Pro – Currently Free, but very soon to have a monthly charge.

As a small business I can’t justify the high monthly fees charged by most of the alternatives. I’ve studied 29 different systems thus far, which will list on eBay only mostly in the $10-20/mo. range, to those who claim synchronizing on several sites, generally in the $100-400/mo range. I’d love to have my eBay listings and a web shopping cart with sync, but price is an important factor.

I’m ready to commit, but the upcoming cost of M2E Pro is a critical unknown. I find this on the M2E web site:
“However, please be advised that upon the live version of the product release some monthly subscription fee will introduced.”
“Most probably, the monthly fee will be based on sales volumes. “
“The paid subscription will be introduced in the second half of 2014 for next integrations:”

I absolutely refuse to pay a percentage fee based on sales (due to extremely low margins on expensive items). I understand most providers have higher fees for having more items. I also realize that UnderstandingE has no control over M2E. BUT, without knowing the upcoming cost of M2E, I cannot/will-not commit to spending endless hours further understanding and implementing this system.

Converting my current (now obsolete) system to another eBay-only system and living with it for the near future will get me back on eBay and selling.

If anyone has any information on the upcoming cost of M2E, please let me know. Otherwise, Bye! for six months or so.

Hi Rich

I am sure M&D will respond for themselves but you have me a little confused.

UnderstandingE is the front-end to the eCommerce MAGENTO system for a shopping-cart web site.

Do you know something we don’t UE is an independent entity not tied to Magento but 2 (not so kewl guys :) helping everybody and showing how you can be in a multi market place on a shoestring. Not sure where you get 49.95 one time charge ????????? Its free unless you want to get Premium membership!!!!!

M2E Pro are not doing this for a laugh they have to make money my understanding is eBay is free for now but when Amazon interface is finished a charge will apply. This makes sense as M2E Pro are sponsored by eBay. Matt has said if M2E Pro get silly in the price side of things he will look to other extensions.

You might be better off using Turbo Lister and waiting to see what the cost will be and then work out. Do i pay 10 cents to list with M2E Pro or spend hours with TL only you can decide.

But Matt and Dave have hidden nothing and it is a shame you didnt listen and read the Podcasts before starting your video lessons. Good luck with your eBay store i hope you find a solution

Howdy Rich,

I’d love to give you the answers, but you already know that we’re limited by M2E being a separate company.

M2E Pro have an interesting challenge when it comes to Amazon and pricing, there is an alternative extension for Magento that costs €290.00, so the marketplace is dictating that this is the maximum or comparison in pricing that can be used.

This is one of the reasons we’ve been holding back on the Amazon tutorials because we don’t know how M2E are going to be pricing, if it gets too expensive, then we go in via the route above.

There are several different ways of pricing such apps. One thing I am confident of, is that it won’t be a percentage of sale with M2E, which leaves sales volume related. So basically if you’re selling more products you should pay more. That just makes good sense because you’re using their system more. How they’re going to tier that, pass.

Does that help?

Oh and just to add to my previous comment, for the record we want M2E Pro to start charging for exactly this reason!

Hi Rich

I am a little confused as to the 49.95 charge for UnderstandingE. We are trying to keep as much of the content on UE as free / cheap as possible.

As for M2E Pro. Once they have the Amazon integration ready for release then this is what they will be charging for. M2E Pro does appear to be free currently but this is not the case. It is subsidised by eBay, so when you use M2E Pro eBay is effectively paying for you to use the extension.

When M2E release Amazon, it makes total sense that eBay are not going to fund you to sell on their biggest competitor, hence why the charge will come in, and the likelihood of Amazon ever subsidizing the M2E Pro extension is <0.1%

But as we have said there is a limit in which they can reasonably charge, we are confident it won’t be percentage of sale and will be on a Tier based pricing system. If they go over the limit then we take route B.

Morning Calum,

Yea it’s going to be curious what they do on the Amazon side, as bundling in features like this will help warrant / seal-the-deal on using M2E Pro for Amazon.
