Hi,

I am very interested in the extents people have used magento/m3ePro, i.e. most the upper bound of SKUs being controlled and orders being processed?

I had a quick count up we have over 157,000 eBay listings and over 35,000 amazon listings, this doesn’t take into account out of stock items so our total SKU count is well over 200,000 and growing. Over this christmas period just gone we were arriving to work on a Monday morning with over 2500 orders to deal with.

Is anyone or does anyone know someone handling this volume or more of SKUs/orders with magento/m2ePro?

What are the largest volumes people have heard of being processed? Is our volume realistic?

Thanks. Smile

Howdy gingebot,

Well you’re not going to run that many from shared web hosting :) Thats what I would class as a “Good Problem”.

The most I’ve personally run is around 80,000 products, with about half that in stock at anyone time.

I know Chris Astley has run wayyy more than this on his installations and there are a couple of others that I’m aware of with +100,000 products in Magento (all using dedicated servers).

As far as processing orders, Gurprett from an earlier Podcast was +2,000 orders a week and if you want a large scale example, Argos Outlet. Buy an item from them on eBay and wait for the Magento invoice to appear, goodness knows how much they get through on a daily, let alone a weekly basis.

Hi gingebot

I would be intrested in talking to you we are doing around 2000 – 3000 orders a week and looking to grow this but after reading some of the things you have talked about we seem to have some of the same issues.

thanks

Hey Daniel,

Thanks for the message, it does sound like we may well have similar aims. Meganto & m2e has been on the cards for me for a while now (since Matt started understanding e :) ) There do seem to be several hurdles to jump for us with difinitive solutions yet, although Matt has solved a lot of the problems.

I am currently pushing the boss to look at magento/m2e in more depth. One thing for sure is we really don’t feel like we are getting vfm with the fees we are paying esellerpro.

hopefully I can start to dedicate more time to this soon :)

We have been working with Magento to see if it is going to be feasible, we have a lot of SKUS, alot. We are getting on for 1 million SKUS, this is split over about 6000 products.

Ideally i want to be able to run everythign from Magento, but we are being told if we go the route of having configurable products etc then we are talking £500 a month for a beefy dedicated server.

Alternatively its been suggested that we could run it with Product options, this would mean we only have to deal with 6,000 products in magento but it wouldn’t work with M2Epro? Is that right?

Howdy Nick,

1 million products is a lot, I thought you might have been selling car parts when you said that, but it’s not and the suggestion of custom options makes sense.

They do work with M2EPro (see here), but the downside is that custom options have no form of stock control on them in Magento and thats the reason why we’ve not included any guides on them for UE. Saying that working out the stock control path for using a small number of products as a base and they exploding them out to that huge number of items isn’t going to be pretty either.

There is no getting away from that you’ll need hefty hosting for that number of products and £500 a month would be a good budget. Although I’d not suggest one dedicated server for that many products, it needs to be split out. Have a chat with Chris Astley here as he knows of the hosting provider that I’m thinking of for you, but I’m not willing to post them in the forums.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for that, we sell clothing (print on demand) so there is no stock that we really manage. Are there any other downsides to using the custom options? We are selling on Ebay, Amazon and Rakuten

Howdy Nick,

I saw your post earlier, the one thing that sprang to mind is Amazon. I don’t believe you can set an ASIN per variation for a custom option.

This would be a question only M2E would be able to provide as they’re releasing a new version shortly. So a well worded message to their support would be needed to see if they can handle custom options for variation listings on Amazon.

Thanks, I’ll speak with them
