Hello all,

I’ve seen on facebook the last couple of days about facebook shops. Is this something people recommend and what extension would you suggest if there is one?

Also I’ve used the code for the facebook comments on my products which i like a lot, but is it possible to log into my site with a facebook login and what adavntages of letting people do this are there? Could they auto like my facebook page if they haven’t already when they log in?

Hey Nick,

My personal opinion on Facebook shops is not to bother.

Facebook is a social environment where people want to talk with each other (and share cat pictures and recently videos of ice bucket challenges) They are not looking to be sold too.

It would be like you would be satin a pub with a few friends and someone comes along and starts trying to sell you stuff unrelated to what your talking about. (pretty annoying)

Instead social networks should be used to socialise with your potential / existing customers and engage in conversations. That way when they do want to buy or enter ‘buying mode’ they will head over to your website, which they will know about due to your clever social marketing.

That is just my thoughts anyway, open to suggestions from other members on this topic.

That’s fine Dave, thought I would ask the question.

When you put it that way, then I guess your just going to annoy everyone like people do with game requests

Cheers for the reply

That is the risk in my opinion Nick, People use social not for the purpose of buying, and yea i’m sure we have all had our fair share of farmville and candy crush invites :)

No problems at all sir, always happy to help where I can

Howdy Nick,

Putting everything Dave has put above (and my thoughts are very similar) to one side, what features would you expect from such a page?

Hi Matt,

I did use an extension, that put a shop on my fb page and i never really got any sales via it. i took it off, so i don’t really see the value in it. Plus if i wanted to buy something i would probably google it or just follow a fb link to the product on a website.

I suppose it was handy that on my FB page, they could scroll through all my products, but the sale was confirmed on my site, so you might as well just put a link to the product in the first place haha
