Typically an EPOS system would cost anything from £10 monthly (very basic entry level) to £100,000 set up + custom bespoke system.

Our current set up:

7000 items in shop and garden centre
1300 items on esellerpro (not linked/integrated at all with shop and garden centre)

500 items sold per week on eBay and Amazon – £400k turnover annual
shop is double this

10 staff full time and part time
5 tills in shop

We want:

full integration with shop stock and own direct website (EPOS)
a good integration with marketplaces so we do not comprise our current revenue and account standings etc

Not bothered if we lose ESP – so long as it is better of course.

Is there an off the shelf solution do you know?

Provided we operate it correctly, it will pay for itself so we have no problem investing a good few £000’s upfront or paying a reasonable monthly cost.

I am currently looking at Intelligent Retail and Brightpearl.

I will also go to the IRX this year.

I know that one option is to do a lot of the coding and development integration in-house but we do not have the technical skills to do this.

Thanks in advance for any advice etc

Regards,
Rik

Hey Rik,

We haven’t delved too much into POS however I did get to Beta test eBizmarts POS system on my iPad which was really nice and Scott from this podcast used it too: https://understandinge.com/10-retail-stores-ebay-magento-m2epro/ he had 10 stores and multiple marketplaces too. It ties in with Magento

Definitely one to look at and see if it ticks your boxes.

Thanks, looks impressive however I think it is more website to shop whereas we need shop to website. Our core goal is to start with the EPOS shop structure foundation and then move outwards, not the other way round.

We do not have a magento website and our shop stock and business moves faster and is bigger and better then our online offerings, hence we need to start with the shop first.

I will listen again to the podcast, it will have more relevance to me now I think so thanks for reminding me of that.

For anyone else who is starting to look into this like I am, this website guide looks helpful: http://www.softwareadvice.com/uk/retail/

They did not Rik, they just used ESP in the shop to process orders, nothing fancy, and no dedicated POS

Thanks, ok. I just got super customer service from Stuart @ Brightpearl.

He recommends for our Intelligent Retail integrated with visualsoft. I will be speaking with both of these shortly also.
