Hi,

Ebay have said they are going to start removing our listing this weekend. This is due to this link in Widgetchimp

HTML 5 standards only allow limited use of HTML links in Sandbox mode. It is not yet clear to what extent the use of links is allowed in eBay listings. We will adjust the analysis accordingly.

Has anyone else got this and if they have what are they doing about it. Widgetchimp help is not being forthcoming.

Hi Matt

We too are suffering from this same problem with very little, basically no support from widgetchimp.

We have around 25000 products listed on eBay and approx 4000 have been flagged by eBay under the same reasons.

It is not long left before the weekend, we would appreciate some answers from Widgetchimp Matt and the Team.

Me too!! I couldn’t understand why I was being told that I was not policy compliant but have worked out it has to be the ‘powered by widgetchimp‘ link on all templates.
Please assist, really worried that all our listings are going to be ended by ebay!!

I asked WC support about this 9 days ago and was told it was being looked at. I’ve just asked again over live chat and have been told again it is being looked at.

Not good whichever you look at it and unless a solution is in place today we will switch all our listings to plain descriptions rather than have listings affected.

Disappointed it has come to the last minute, this should’ve been sorted out as soon as the policy was release by eBay.

Hi, yes we also have been emailed by ebay for over 700 listings.

So therefore no need to panic now, nothing will be removed until 2018.

I have raised a support ticket with Widget Chimp and would expect them to reply within 2 working days.

Has there been talk about this from MO or DF on the Mastermind Webinars? I have not watched the last few so may have missed something.

After already revising thousands of listings due to active content i now have to do it again.

I have just heard back from WidgetChimp customer support:

“Howdy,

Our development team is aware of this issue as other users are getting the same warning. We are working on updating our system to comply to this ebay policy. We are doing the best we can to have it completed as soon as possible. Rest assured that it will be taken care of.

So therefore I am going keep my faith and my continued loyalty to WC and wait till they get this sorted shortly.

For my back up plan – which is VOLO Commerce basic ebay listing template – I will implement this across a couple of live listings to see how it works should my hand be forced in the weeks to come.

I’m also getting this on my 3 ebay accounts, a bit worried that about it at the moment and nothing formal from widget chimp apart from the same response from support.

Something official from Matt to reassure us / give us a time frame would be useful. Surely can’t take that long to do a temporary fix to make us compliant (even loss of functionality) and then work on a proper solution afterwards?

Matt has been working on this for the past 3 days and gave an update in the webinar on Tuesday, and as Rick posted, the support team are replying to tickets. An update will be out asap.

Dave,

With all respect, WC has not communicated with customers. I do not watch the UE webinars anymore but had to join this week just in case something was mentioned. WC should be communicating to its customers via email so that any issues can be highlighted before they become urgent.

I’m sure Matt is busy trying to get this sorted, but a simple email to us would have prevented support calls from us all asking the same questions. The lack of comms has caused people to be talking about WC on Tamebay.

By the way, we were told there was an update coming today – what has happened to that? Again, no comms whereas a simple email update would keep us in the loop.

I’m with Simon on that one. I don’t watch the webinars and don’t know what was said. Only comms have been 3 weeks ago when I opened a ticket which was “we’re working on it” and then a similar response a couple of days ago. Which gives the impression that in 3 more weeks or 3 more months I might get the same reply.

Much respect for the UE/WC staff but when there is something like this which ebay are saying is a policy breach and therefore could threaten accounts and sales, I think people need more reassurance. Maybe something like this:

– We’re aware of the issue, it’s caused by abc
– We’re removing the abc module temporarily, this will take 1 week
– We’re then working on putting a new ebay compliant version of the abc module back. This will take one month
– eBay have given a date of xyz when they will start pulling listings but we’ll be fully compliant way before this

Not having a go at anyone here, please just see it as customer feedback. Also, I know that the cause of this is ebay and not you guys. But to have customers that are worried about listings isn’t a good thing! Was similar with the active content recently. For the 2nd time this year I’ve been thinking of switching back to a fixed non-dynamic template to save the worry and £25 a month!

Well put Dave1. I rarely moan for the sake of it, but this has been poor. Today I received notification of a new blog post from UE and ironically it is titled “How’s Your Customer Service Faring on Twitter, Email, and Chat?”

The other day I looked up the WC twitter account to see if I was missing announcements. There wasn’t any and I only found people there asking questions that haven’t been responded to.

Yep, WC customer service needs to be looked at!! Been with the guys since the beginning and have a lot to be grateful to them for, really want to stay with WC but may be forced to remove template if not resolved in time. I find when I get a reply from them they do not seem to understand my query and their response is not helpful enough which extends the stretch of questions and time involved.

Hi, Version 4 of Widget Chimp is live now. I have been creating and downloading new templates and I have been testing them on http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytoo…..canner.htm

I emailed their support three times over the past week or so and have only receive one reply. I am not 100% sure but I think their support is Ruel and someone else and if they are busy then it does take time to get replies but hopefully they will respond better this week.

I’ve still not heard from WC, so went ahead and updated my templates. Just waiting for revisions to happen on eBay now so I can check tomorrow if I’m now compliant.

Had a quick look at the code, and while I’m not a dev, it does seem to have removed the offending links. On the downside, it looks like we no longer have dynamic categories. They appear to be hardcoded into the template. Can anyone confirm?

Good news, the new template seems to have fixed the contact details problem as they are no longer showing as non-compliant

The bad news is that I’m getting tons of errors for insecure content. Assuming this is because my images and logo don’t have https before them. Not sure if this is an unrelated issue?
I have SSL on my site and I can add https before an image and it works. Anyone know how to get widgetchimp/magento to automatically use https in the template and therefore on eBay?
