Hello, My cat script stopped working so I went to http://apps.lastdropofink.co.u…../Login.php and I’m getting “Unable to connect – Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at apps.lastdropofink.co.uk.”

I did send a message to Matt via his website but no reply as yet and I need this working again rapid..

thanks

Hi Kevin, thanks for that. I entered my ebay username as the script says – got a new token and entered it in config.php. Unfortunately the category script is still not working as you can see here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/uncoo…..sedtshirts

On the left hand side the cat script usually appears underneath the .png “Categories” – It worked perfectly for over two years until just now. I am the only one in charge of this so I know nobody has messed with any html or anything..

Thanks again..
Russ

You have a Server error 500 on your script at http://uncoolthreads.com/shop/…..CatsSA.php

Once you have fixed that it should show on ebay again.

This could be down to an upgrade of software on your server by your host. Check you server error log for more detail on the 500 error and I’ll try and help you, my cat script is still running fine.

I found a log folder in the directory above public_html which I presume is the right one – I found the GZ FILES that refers to where the script is hosted and downloaded it. There are lots of mentions of “ebayCatsSA.php”.

Here is one of the lines:
79.70.228.147 – – [31/Dec/2015:07:04:33 -0700] “GET /shop/images/ebayCatsSA.php HTTP/1.1” 500 284 “http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=371355832836&t=1438811312000&tid=310&category=15687&seller=bernardnelson&excSoj=1&excTrk=1&lsite=3&ittenable=false&domain=ebay.co.uk&descgauge=1” “Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 7_1_2 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.51.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0 Mobile/11D257 Safari/9537.53”

I have no idea what most of this means. Am I in the right place?

That’s the normal log file with every hit listed. It’s the error log you need. It’s might be in the same directory but called error.

Have a read of https://my.hostmonster.com/hosting/help/594#example and see if it helps.

One easy thing to check is that the permissions on the file are set to 0644 or 644

There is nothing looking around the files via FTP. I looked in the home directory, public_html and also each domain’s root folder – there are no folders or files that say ‘error’.

In Cpanel there is an error log link which opens up a really long page that contains all errors for the server (this is shared so it includes errors from other people’s websites as well). I ran Ctrl+f for ebayCatsSA.php but there is nothing on this page..

Confused a bit now got to admit. Oh yes I checked the permissions for ebayCatsSA.php and it’s set to 0644, probably as it always has been…

Aaargh! :-)

edit: I submitted this to Hostmonster Support: “Hello I am suddenly getting a server error 500 and an ebay display category script has stopped working after it’s been working fine for over 2 years. The message I get is:
http://uncoolthreads.com/shop/…..CatsSA.php Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) – Could this be due to some server/software update? I have checked permissions on the file and the folder and all seems in order..”

Try putting a php.ini file in the same directory as your ebayCatsSA.php script with display_errors = on

http://stackoverflow.com/quest…..to-display

Then load the ebayCatsSA.php page and see if it says anything

Ok Kev I tried this (not my area of expertise at all)

display_errors = on
ini_set(‘display_errors’, 1);
ini_set(‘display_startup_errors’, 1);
error_reporting(E_ALL);

exactly as is – nothing showed on the page.

If it would be easier in the long run I’m certainly prepared to give you ftp access to that folder if you’d be prepared to have a look.. I could PM you perhaps?

It might be best for you to contact your server host about it. As if it was working before the only thing I can think of would be a version change on the server software it doesn’t like.

I have done this already Kevin (see two posts up from me). Their first response was “There’s nothing wrong all seems to be working” – They probably just glanced at it and thought it looks ok.. I have written back explaining exactly whats not working.. We’ll see what their next response is..

I can’t believe it’s taken my host (Hostmonster.com) this long to answer my question AND when they did they were NO help at all!!!

Here’s their response:
“Thanks for contacting technical support! Sorry for the delay.

I’ve looked into http://uncoolthreads.com/shop/…..CatsSA.php and I’m afraid I couldn’t find anything causing the error. I thought it could have been out automatic php upgrades that happened back in November, but switching from php 5.6 to 5.4 didn’t seem to make a difference. I’m afraid you’ll need to contact a developer for further assistance with this issue.”

GREAT! – Now I’m really stuck. Matt said he wouldn’t help as I’m not a registered purchaser of the script and I needed to contact the guy who built my shop for assistance as he used the script on a developer license. I tried emailing the guy but everything bounced back so I’m assuming he’s out of business…

Don’t know what to do.. Can’t afford to start employing developers..

So you already spoke with Matt and his advice was to contact the developer of the script

Please try contacting Chris Astley https://understandinge.com/partners/website-guy/
