Hi community,

I’ve just been and updated my listings using Understandinge’s template builder, however, I’m looking at my listings on the eBay mobile app and unfortunately it doesn’t display correctly. The description is pretty much unreadable.

Anyone any ideas how I can get around this?

Listing in question – http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2910…..1555.l2649

Many thanks
Ben

Hi Ben

Unfortunately the standard listings aren’t currently optimised for mobile…or are ‘responsive’.

Matt is currently working on seeing if he can make the ebay listing template builder work in a responsive way to ensure they can be viewed on tablets and phones a lot better.

We are hoping to have a new listing theme available over the next few days which will be responsive.

Thanks

Dave

Howdy Dave, Ben,

Actually it’s ready, all is needed is for me to add the extra code into the listing template builder.

There is one known bug at the moment which is on old android browsers, for some reason they really don’t like javascript, working on a graceful degrade on them at the moment, iPad, iphones and the eBay apps are ok.

Do note that the responsive version will be tied to premium accounts.

Hi Matt,

Are there more template options with the premium account? This might persuade me to finally take the plunge.

Hi Ben,

There is more control over the related items, which isn’t documented at the moment, but was purposefully built in, so really is a case of putting a guide around this.

As far as extra features, is there anything that immediately jumps out as you as you’d class as cool?

Hi,

I’d quite like the option of a couple of different layouts and the integration of your ‘Order now for Next Day’ count down timer would be cool.

Cheers,
Ben

Several layount options, image placement, colour options would be great. Banner heading would also be good

Hi Matt
If the responsive version is tied to premium accounts. Does this mean that it would cease to function if a subscription was ended?
Thanks

Howdy Greg, they’d continue to work :)

@Ben-Gear adding in the delivery ETA widget is a bit tricky because it’s tied to your account in WidgetChimp.

@Calum Roberts maybe something like the new eBay store layout perhaps? Adding in a selection of colour options should be straight forwards to do and maybe some more options around the media gallery is a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback chaps!

Hi Matt,

Could it not just be a text field that asks the user to input their embed code from WidgetChimp? – I’m no expert thought ha.

I would like a premium theme to look more like the the one in this picture.
http://screencast.com/t/ouTK8fGdFDe

I know we have layout 2 however that is too minimal.

I would like it to have
-Title on top
-With the image on the left
-Customer review on the right (with stars)
-price
-buy it now button
-(here we can add in the code from widget chimp for ETA)
-bullet points

-Then the description

-Then feedback widget (with the option of widgetchimp logo removed) Just like this one has no logo.

-Then related items.

Ok I went in and edited the our theme in PS.

Only thing that is needed in there is the feedback widget in between description and related items. With the option of disabling the widget chimp logo off course.
I think this is one of the coolest widgets out there. I know once my competitors see it they will get it. Thus me not having the edge any more.

Ben,

Ace idea, I was thinking the complicated route, it doesn’t need to be that way and that would work perfectly.

Howdy Amir,

Almost all -doable, the one grey area is the item specifics table, the options which are in there are going to be specific to your Magento account.

So with that in mind, is better that I leave you to add your own table or provide a table that you can populate?

That would be great Matt. I have tried to go in to the code and mess about with the template, ( I know nothing about css ) and I couldn’t do it.
It just places the extra stuff on top of the pictures and not on the side.

If you could provide a template with a table that I could populate, that would be super.

Thanks Matt,

Amir.

Hi Amir,

It’s on the todo list, just to set expectations on this, it won’t be looked at for at least a week as we have a wealth of tutorials to be doing right now for the Magento website side.

Hi Matt,

Will the two column layout ‘responsive’ listing template be available anytime soon for premium members? Tried the simple layout but doesn’t work as well and there are some display issues with it both on laptop and iPhone. Also, will there be any other responsive listing template designs available in the near future?

Thanks Cliff

Howdy Cliff,

We were going to add another one column layout shortly.

Daft question for you. What did you see as a problem or broken with the responsive version?

We tested this on as many apps as we could, however we don’t assume its perfect by any means. If you have a screen shot to hand either pop it here in a reply or send it over via email and I’ll do my best to resolve :)
