What method is used to import the shop categories into ebay? ie see images attached.

It appears that ebay requires an numerical id of the shop category (ie not the shop category name), so in order for this to work i would need to set up an attribute in magento where the values are numbers. The problem with that is if you have 30 categories and they are all represented as numbers how do you know which attribute value to choose?

How do m2e users go about this? Do they just set the shop categories manually after the products have been imported into ebay?

Yep that’s it, they’re setting the store category at the time of listing.

You can do what you’re suggesting which is to use an attribute for the store category, that does mean that as it’s a number in Magento unless you’re pretty good at remembering them you won’t have a clue which category they are for and will need to rely on an external spreadsheet to look them up in.

PS. This is exactly the way I would do it, use excel as the external product data source with the category numbers in a separate workbook and match them up & import.
