Any idea when the M2E guides are going to start rolling again? Seems like everything has come to halt?

Hi Greg,

How cool is that!

The guides haven’t hit a halt, we’ve just not been publishing them as they’ve been done.

There is a course coming out shortly which now has 57 parts to it to get the fundamentals of Magento from a website perspective into place coming out shortly.

This was needed as we can’t cover the Magento design side until the basics are covered. The M2E Pro courses don’t cover what you need to know about using Magento as a website, we skimmed over or didn’t cover at all certain topics are they’re irrelevant from the using Magento for eBay & Amazon.

Also to put this into perspective, it took us 4 months to make 40 tutorials, it’s just taken us 4-5 weeks to do 57. We’re going as fast as we can :)

Okay, you will have to forgive my moaning. The guides, when they come out, are always excellent and a really great and appreciated resource. It would be great to have some kind of timeline/overview of what is going to be coming and when.

Hi Greg,

I know what you mean, as a heads up the Magento fundamentals course WILL be live this week to premium members.

The non premium version will be a week or so behind as we need to do all the preparation work on the UE site to be able to publish it. Plus I drove Dave nuts on the weekend after deciding that we needed introductions and summaries to each core section, which knocked out the ordering :D

An insight to what we’ve been up to is in a blog post I’ve just whipped together here https://understandinge.com/mystery-topic-tomorrows-coffee-morning/ and we’re due for a Podcast to summarise last month as well.

I’m a little wary of publicly setting a live date for the design course, there is a minimum of 80 tutorials to be put in there, it’s a lot of work, but we’re changing tack on them and they’re be shorter, faster and highly specific so I’m hoping we’ll be able to do them in super quick time. If I was to be pinned down and had to give a date, I like ridiculously high goals, within 2 weeks we’ll have the bulk of them done (may vary depending on the amount of coffee I drink), but nothing will published until I’m super happy with the contents.

A quick question for you Greg, what M2E Pro guides would you like to see as a priority? What is it you would like to see guides on specifically?

Hi Dave,
I’d like to see guides on
1)Amazon integration (if need be without listing capabilities just managing qtys and orders would be great).
2) selling on EU sites through existing eBay and Amazon accounts.
3) Then setting up secondary accounts.

I’d also like a guide on setting up a solid structure in Magento for the multiple channels (more on store views etc.). So all of the above are done following a “best practice” and allowing for things that might come after.

I’d like to see an overview and a timeline.

I don’t want a lot Laugh.
Thanks
Greg

Thanks Greg, I have made a note of the above on our M2E Pro list.

As Matt has mentioned previously a Timeline is not going to be likely due to the nature of how we work, because we are a small team we have the ability to be agile, and change direction quickly when needed too. This means that having a structured timeline would largely just lead to disappointment when either we have to change it, or can’t stick to it, bearing in mind we are just a team of two.

Cheers

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply. It makes it very difficult to buy into an idea if there is no defined structure or path or overview to it.

I originally had perceived as the key focus of “understandinge” as to help in implementing a multi-channel software solution through Magento/M2E pro.

The initial set up was brilliant but then it has all seemed to stall.

Hey Greg

I can see where you are coming from, however as i’m sure you are aware it makes sense for us to make what the majority want to see as a priority.

I originally had perceived as the key focus of “understandinge” as to help in implementing a multi-channel software solution through Magento/M2E pro.

You are exactly right, and a website is another channel which most eCommerce businesses will want to have. From the first Premium Webinar, and the number of emails we have had since then, we took the decision, that the next channel that most people wanted was the website, and we looked and struggled to find any Magento website guides that were of good enough quality for us to recommend, therefore we made our own.

I understand that you are keen to carry on with M2E Pro to list on multiple eBay stores and integrate Amazon. As we have said we know M2E are going to be releasing a much deeper Amazon integration in due course but right now, they do still have the functionality to do this, and the documentation to go with it.

We obviously will be creating guides on Amazon, and multiple eBay stores over different countries, but unfortunately we are just a team of two and whilst it may look like we have ‘Stalled’ I can assure you nothing could be further from the truth, as hopefully you will see with the launch of the website course.

I know for you Greg, Amazon was more important than the website guides, and we will get to them as soon as possible. At this stage however it would be impossible for us to put a ‘timescale’ on it.
