Howdy Dale,
Yea we’ve added in a lot of fields so that you can break your product data up in to standard blocks and also to handle eBay item specifics properly too.
We’re recording the bulk of the guides this week, just waiting on some updates for the magento admin theme and it will look completely different once we’ve got our hands on it :)
A taster is attached below

Hi Dale,
Just checking in to see if they’ve been back to you?
Matt
Hi Matt
Yes i had to give them my details for them to sort it out it looked right but wasn’t dropping the menu. I think i missed an area on wizard set-up but you cannot get back into it so they had to go in. But they were really helpful.
On a side note when setting up Cats in Magento do they need to match the Ebay Cats that you get charged at different levels at?
Clothes, Shoes & Accessories
Collectables
Consumer Electronics
Furniture, Bath, Holidays & travel
Media
Tyres
Vehicle Parts (Motors)
Watches
All other categories
I am thinking it does not matter but then that leads me onto does M2E Pro tell you your listing charges prior to submission like TL???

Hi Dale,
What I would suggest (and it’s the approach we’re taking in the guides) is to make a new category called “Internal Use” and mark it as inactive.
Then make sub categories below that make sense to you, these could be the categories that you have mentioned above and would make it easier when managing a wide range of products.
I would also suggest adding “Working On” & “Completed” to the categories list as well. The reason for this is the latter part of your question, if you’re working on multiple new products, when you go to list them you can add them in batches and the easiest way to do this, is by adding them by category. Grab a batch of products and list them all at the same time, then once listed, go back and move those products to the completed category.
Does that help you?

Oh and the reason why we’re marking it as “Inactive” is because that allows you to have your own internal category structure and a separate category structure on the Magento website(s), if you want one that is :)
Matt
Hi Matt so for clarity you suggest 3 Cats Internal Use,Working On” and “Completed all as inactive and not visible in navigation?
Are these Root CATs? or Sub Cats of Root?
Then add sub Cats my own names to Internal Use and then when i come to list them from my Completed CAT i can still have work in progress in my Working on Cat!

Hi Dale,
Create a sub category and make sub categories of those.
Root categories should only be used if you want a different category structure for multiple websites.

Hi Matt

Hi Dale,
Pop the completed and working on categories into the “Internal Use” category as then they’re stored neatly in one tree then :)
PS. The video was very helpful!

Hi Dale,
The theme settings are irrelevant as the category is not active & won’t be used for the website :)

Hi Matt
Great Podcast earlier :) let me know when i can ask another question about my basic setup. I have questions about mass duplication of Cats & Sub Cats in different states and how you view this.

Hi Dale,
Sure, it would be a good idea by starting with what you’re trying to do and we’ll work from there.
Matt
Well i have no issue waiting for the material your working on ( do not get an option do i ? :) Do you have any idea the cost your going to charge for this material?
But i would like to have in place now to practise to see it work
Excel Sheet with correct fields to cover me importing in
Import into Magento
Show in Magento Store
Export to Ebay & Amazon
Fix my Ebay template
Then when material comes out then get it ready for production and get the Magento Website sorted

How does free sound?
That’s what we’re aiming for, the “base” guides will be free. There will be some advanced topics in next year that maybe bundled up, but it is our intention that there should be zero barrier to entry to someone like yourself (known to me & Dave as the “cool people”) to get started & running in the 3rd Generation, because that is exactly what the 3rd Generation is about. Choice & no barriers :)
For us the Magento website is an after thought, remember we’re abusing errr using Magento for it’s core, not for the website side. But have that planned as well.
Oh and by the way, shoot your landline njumber (as I get those calls for free) or skype ID over on the contact form if you’d like a chit-chat on the phone this afternoon.
Does that help you?
