When entering a product into Magento into the very well designed form. I know that M2epro will pick it up as i have a custom template in policies to make it look good in eBay. But it looks shit in Magento front end so how do you achieve both ?

You said not to enter any html into the description area in Magneto !!! so not sure how i get it to look right ? At the same time maintain what is needed for ebay / m2epro ???

Dale,

Not sure what you meant by not adding html but from what it sounds like you’re asking, html essentially is exactly what you need to use.. Especially if you are going to be adding that much content into your description field. I’m sure there are other methods to achieve this but for adding products from within Magento I would suggest using a WYSIWYG editor.

However if at all possible it may be more useful to you to break up your description into perhaps some other attributes? This would allow you to reuse and move around more content when templating in m2epro. Take a look at one of my listings, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA…..1003649598 The only part of this listing pulled from the description in magento are the two

under the “Listing Details” heading, starting with “The crash test dummy’s don’t…”.

Hope this helps!

I use a keyword template already in eBay see here
But i am sure Matt said in a guide do not use html when adding in the description field for Magento. I guess my i am having a brain fart and getting confused. How do i add html to style it in Magento so it looks correct in Magento Store but stop that html being dragged over into keyword eBay html policy template??

Hope this makes sense to somebody :)

Hi Dale,

Ah ha in the description box, you can have html and you can have the wysiwig editor on, the point I was making that don’t put your entire listing template in the product description because it’ll look errr…. shocking on the website.

Does that make sense?

I think i am getting confused its my age i think:)
I get the Ebay keyword template but this pulls from Description in Magento .

If my eBay template has pre defined formatting to dispaly correctly in eBay will it not screw it up if its dragging across html from my Magento design ???

Do you understand what i mean ?

What do you mean by “keyword ebay template”? If your just referring to the ebay listing description template in m2epro, than the short answer here is no it will not mess up.

Just use simple html tags in your descriptions or easier yet, install TinyMCE (which is a wysiwyg editor) using magento connect. This will create just needed html to make your descriptions look as desired.

Hi Dale – jumping in to say you are making great progress!
Your product description is well formatted. Very clear.

Can you point me in the right direction on the logo please?
Where did you find the section to upload a replacement logo? Is there a size limit stipulated for it?

Keep up the good work :-)

Hi Dale, Steve2,

Nice work!

I do have one suggestion Dale, pop those 5 bullet points up above the product images. If you remember the comment in the best practice attributes, customers like to speed read listings, you have those bullet points there to do so, but they’re wayy down the page if that makes sense?

@Steve S

From the theme documentation for Ultimo:

Upload your logo to skin/frontend/ultimo/default/images/ directory.

By default Magento displays logo from the file named logo.gif. If you uploaded file with different name or different file format (e.g. .jpg or .png), go to System > Configuration > Design > Header section and in the Logo Image Src field specify a path to your logo image.

The path is relative to skin/frontend/ultimo/default/ directory.

And you can change that image path in System > Configuration > Ultimo and I’m lost from there, it’s the design section and the blue bar in the admin is called “Header”

Hope that helps,

Matt

Hi Dale,

Yes. That’s the theme that I’m going to be using as a base.

It’s cheap, it looks great, it’s responsive and it works.

I do have two personal annoyances with the theme, nothing is perfect right? But they’re soooo much further on and by the time we get there, I will have found a way around them :)
