Hi there,

Some great guides here Matt and Dave! I have started to create a few simple multi variation listings in M2E Pro for eBay.co.uk. All is working well except the images in eBay are just the smaller standard size (500px x 500px). Although the images I upload to Magento are 1600px x 1600px and should then enable the magnify glass expand facility in eBay.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks Jono

Hi Jono,

Can you let me know an eBay Item number so I can pull the details off the eBay API as eBay can be fiddling the image sizes in certain categories and we need to rule this out.

PS. The “Importing Products” section of guides is about 90% complete for the phase one guides, the overview page is almost done and will add in place-holders for the advanced topics we’ll be adding :)

Hi Jono,

It’s working on that listing you sent over, the image is monstrously huge even on my screen at 1920×1080 pixels :)

HI

Hope you don’t mind if i hijack this thread but following on from this i was amazed that image swapping does not work in Magento without an addon (so i have read)

1st How do you get images to swap in Magento Front-end if i have red , green , blue T Shirts and i select blue it should show me a shot of the blue T Shirt Image.

2nd I guess variation listings are working when sent to M2EPro to put on Ebay does the image swapping work on eBay?

I have tried adding an image to the simple product that is attached to a conf parent but i cannot get it to work.

Hi Dale,

Yea, this is the “odd thing” about Magento, while it was a race to stuff as many features as possible into it, this is not included in the base of Magento. But there are extensions to do this :)

Oh and just to add, this works fine on eBay as M2E take care of that part, just remember to set the attribute you want the image to swap for in your description policy.

Hi Dale,

For each variation that you add (the simple product) you can set different images for each of them, this is what M2E Pro use to make the image swapping feature work on eBay.

That’ll be out in the next set of guides.

Hi,

So does anyone know why the image in eBay doesn’t have the hover (expand) function? It’s clearly big enough as Matt said it is huge?

If you click on it it shows the bigger size image in a pop up window but not the magnify facility?

Thanks Jono

Hi Jono,

I’m not sure. What I do know is that eBay don’t always enable this feature, but that’s not very helpful, so I’m thinking checking with the M2E Pro chaps and also rasing with eBay would be the best route here.
