Hi guys,

I’m having issues with getting the M2Epro cron job to run. We are using our Magento website purely for the backend functionality of runnning M2epro > eBay at present.
I can’t see the site being up and running for public consumption for at least 6 months. So we have been using .htaccess to block access. However it also blocks the external M2Epro cron calls.

I’ve tried modifying the .htaccess file with various allow commands etc but still no joy. Does anybody know the details that should be added to the M2epro cron command line to include the username and password, so that it can call cron.php ?

The command line we have which seems to work to run M2Epro cron every minute, when .htaccess password auth is commented out is this:
php -q /home/our website/public_html/cron.php -mdefault 1

It is worth noting that when the .htaccess file is actively blocking the site it asks for the username and password two times. So I don’t know how this it added to the cron command line.

Or if anyone has a better solution to keeping our site and it’s pages hidden, while still maintaining the backend functionality, of Magento, M2Epro, Magmi, cron etc, I’d appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rich,

Why don’t you either put a coming soon homepage with a email box for people to put their email if they are interested or put a maintenance flag in the root so it looks like it’s in maintenance mode.

For the backend access you can set it so you have full access on specific ip’s.

That way should be no issues

Hope this helps

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the follow up. Yes it looks like the coming soon page is the way to go. Having talked with M2Epro support, they said that the M2Epro cron cannot access using login credentials in the command line. I tried the allow function for certain IP’s but this hasn’t worked for me either.

Looking at the Magento Connect store there are a few nice plugins for this landing page, with the email sign up, so seems the way to go.

Thanks

Rich M
