eBay M2E pro error message "EAN is missing a value. Enter a value and try again"

We are trying to add more products to our ebay account through M2E Pro on Magento. We have used the system for over a year, no problems but as of yesterday when we go to list a new product on ebay an error message stops us saying “EAN is missing a value. Enter a value and try again”. I can confirm we are using configurable products and we have already:

1) Created a custom attribute named EAN in magento. It is set to global and the individual sized products have the EAN completed in this field in the products tab of magento
2) Set EAN in the description policy of the Sell on ebay tab
3) We are only adding the configurable product (not the individual sizes)

Any ideas welcome!

Hi Liz, simple fix-

Go to your description policy in magento and underneath the heading “eBay Catalog Identifiers” you need to set the EAN to Does not apply. Be sure to hit the save button to apply it.

This will take care of the problem as i had the same issue a few weeks back.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have followed your instructions. When I click on the EAN drop down the only options to choose from are ‘None’ or a heading of ‘Magento Attributes’ (with a list of our custom attributes). Any ideas?

I just checked mine and Does Not Apply is directly above ‘Magento Attributes’

Is this not the case in your system?

Unfortunately not :( Thank you so much though – sure you’ll of solved the problem but now to find out why that ‘does not apply’ isn’t showing. Technology, eh! Have you updated M2E pro recently? As far as I’m aware we haven’t.

I have attached the picture to show it is there.

You should definitely get the newest version of m2epro and update & synch everything from eBay into your magento system. eBay has only brought the EAN in since last summer i think so if your systems are not up to date this could be the problem.1.jpgImage Enlarger

Hey folks,

Having the same problem here on 6.3.0 – EAN not being recognised & no option for does not apply. Is an M2E Pro update the only option? (It’s usually very problematic for us to do this!).

Thanks,
Owen

If you are using the Understandinge Magento theme, it might help to change back to Default theme.

According to m2epro support, Ue theme can cause problems in not correctly updating Item Specifics.

Hi Andrew, nope not using that theme. Guess it could apply to other themes though?

Hi,

I am having the same problem and I am using the default magento theme (not the UE theme). I have also updated to the latest version of M2E Pro, but I am unable to push EAN’s to my Ebay products.

I also noticed that if I click on the ‘manage variations’ link in one of my M2E product listings as shown below;

I get the following pop up

This allows me to set the individual eBay catalogue identifiers. However, the EAN field is blank, and I do not understand why as I would have thought that this would have been pulled from the EAN attribute I specified in the description policy under the ‘ebay catalogue identifiers’ heading as shown below;

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Owen, James

Owen, unfortunately the first reply you will likely get from M2E Pro will be to update to the latest version before they will look to investigate any further. Maybe try and open a ticket with them, but make the point that updating can be problematic for you and can they see if there is an issue or fix they can do at their end to get this working for you, but I do think they will ask you to update.

James,

Firstly, glad to hear it isn’t the UE Theme causing issues for you, but still very annoying. Again this is one for M2E Pro. As this is a new requirement they have had to add in functionality to M2E Pro and we haven’t had any communication with them on this with regards any problems or the best practice, other than what they have published in their docs pages.

I can’t see why this wouldn’t work from your settings so I would be asking them to see what the issue is.

Thanks Dave – ended up doing the upgrade which seems to have gone a little bit better after following some extra advice they gave me: http://docs.m2epro.com/display…..ce/Upgrade.

I appear to be able to add EANs now. Weird thing is though – when I go into connection manager it lists my old version as installed. Do I need to be concerned about this? (let me kow if I should start a new thread).

Hi Owen,

Well that is good news, and thanks for sharing the upgrade link!

I wouldn’t worry too much about what it states in connection manager, as long as it is working for now, chances are they just forgot to change that as part of the update.
