As a USA user of eBay since 1997, I now have some 3500 active listings in Blackthorne (and 18000 archived sales). BT one of the eBay systems for writing listings and keeping track of buyers, shipments, emails, etc. I have another 600 items on Amazon, mostly duplicated in BT.
Basically if I’m going to use M2E Pro, I need to import (at least semi-automatically) my information from BT (or from eBay). This includes Title, Description, Photos, Item Specifics, Prices, etc. It would be a major pain to retype the information!
The problem of any software such as M2E Pro is the IMPORT of data from current systems, such as eBay or Blackthorne (or InkFrog or the other many eBay systems). It does NOT matter that your system might be cheaper/better/easier/integrated. The time already invested in my 3500 listings is too huge to ignore.
Perhaps this import feature is available and I didn’t see it?
My two cents.
Thank you for Joining!
Brilliant point and this is a topic we are looking at with migration guides from different platforms after the we’ve got the base guides live.
If you have a few moments spare, could you send me a small sample products with ALL of data you can export from Blackthorne so I can take a look?
Hi @Rich Hartzog
We’ve just seen this http://www.ecommercebytes.com/…..10/i30/s03 and it looks like me & Dave need to put this way up our to-do list!
Definitely @Matthew Ogborne @Rich Hartzog
I have a suspicion that after Xmas once things start to quieten down, a lot of Blackthorne users are going to be looking for an alternative. From where I see it, UnderstandingE is going to be the nearest option in a number of ways, but especially in cost.
We now need to make sure we have a plan in place so that we can export from Blackthorne and re-import into Magento as cleanly as possible. This to-do list just keep getting longer Matt :)

Bring it on :)
I have been an avid user of Blackthorne since 2005 and now an avid user of Magento m2epro. If the Blackthorne user utilized “ad templates” then they should be able to import most of their data into m2epro using Magmi with no issues, using blackthornes built in export feature. Blackthorne will also give you the eBay category ID’s that Magento will need. However, if the user put their AD template or HTML design into the description and never utilized “custom fields”, then they will have to strip the HTML coding to grab the description so its importable into m2epro.
The only users who will have problems with exporting are users who utilize “fitment, K types” or “compatibility” as its known in the US. Blackthorne does not support exporting fitment data outside of its system =(
Blackthorne users will definitely be looking for an alternative, and m2epro is definitely a good one!
Post regarding when blackthorne will be discontinued: http://pages.ebay.com/sellerin…..horne.html
That’s amazing to hear!
Oh and for the compatibilities, they can be obtained via the eBay API :)
If you’ve run across someone which that specific challenge around the fitments and are migrating to M2E Pro, point them this way as it’s something I need to add to the export tool I’m working on to extract eBay listings and make an import file for Magmi from their eBay data.
This is just what I am working on at the moment – exporting my listing from eBay to upload to me new websites via Magmi. However, I have always struggled getting the images to be uploaded via Magmi. I have tried time and time again with all the right paths but still cannot get the images to upload and appear.
Any help would be gratefully received.
Can you let me see a sample of what you’re importing, so I can take a look for you?
Just tried downloading from your site, the page is showing a 403 error.
Can you hit reply on the support email address and attach the CSV file and I’ll take a look for you?
I have tried every image path and file name combination that I can find but initially I kept getting the same problem. Image attributes processor v1.0.25 – bosA221.jpg cannot be found in images path. The images are in the media/import folder.
I tried it again with a different file path and suddenly it seemed to upload them – showing only errors of the image if it was actually missing – but the imported images still haven’t appeared in the product listing. They don’t seem to be in the media / catalogue / product / images / b / o/ folder either either.
Strip the file back to just two columns sku and thumbnail and put one product in it.
Add an image to the “media/import” folder and set the image name in the file for the thumbnail column. Make a value up for the sku (eg Gillian) and then import that file.
Does that work?
Also things to check, that you have a folder called “import” in your media folder. That the “import” folder is accessable (I did see that 503 error on your site which made me think this might part of the problem) so try changing the file permissions to 777 for it and see if that makes it work.
