Configurable attribute missing from left hand column

I am trying to create a new product which requires the attribute “Length”. I have this set up as a config_att.

When I create a new product I I changed the attribute set in the drop down from “default” to “Length” and the product type from “Simple Product” to “Configurable Product” and I hit continue button. I then tick the check box for “Length” and hit continue button.

This then takes me to the main product creation details/fields. On the left is a list which includes “general”, “amazon“, “Prices”, “Meta Information” etc. However, there should be an option in this list on the left called “Configurable Attributes” but it is missing.

Any other product attribute I select like “weight” or “colour” etc, the “Configurable Attributes” will appear on the left hand column, but not when I select “Length”.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

Howdy Ben,

The configurable attribute won’t show in the left bar for a configurable product, these only show on the simple products. If that makes sense?
