Not so New
Just a quick heads up on this one.
We have been using M2E Pro for a while now, and before that we had listings in GarageSale and Auctiva. We didn’t re-list everything, but just started our new listings in M2E. When you set up M2E you can ask it to import and sales that were listed via another source “import 3rd party listing sales”. This allows you to see and manage them in the sales dashboard. What it does is import the sale and set up a new product in Magento where it can’t map to an existing one.
Recently we have been having problems with our database, some user error and some other bits as well. What we have found is that the products that have been created via the import have corrupted parts of the database. Particularly the Garagesale ones, which uses some weird html. Basically the products that are set up are missing lots of attributes, and the database doesn’t like it.
We haven’t completely got to the bottom of it yet, but thought I would just warn in case anyone embarked upon an import. My recommendation would be not to use the “import 3rd party sales feature” on the fly, but do a controlled total import of 3rd party listings or not use it all.
I’m sure that Matt will be looking at this and will easily be able to address the issue and provide a solution, but if you are like me and impatient to get started; be careful…..
Is it possible I can take a look at this with you in your system to see what is going on?
If you can shoot some login details over using the contact us form (its only me & Dave that see these emails) and include an order number and a product SKU that is duffed, I can take a look for you.
And yep you’re right, I’m all over a set of scripts to export from eBay at the moment, it’s quite a task as there are so many variants to deal with and the two accounts I am testing with have over 12,000 listings each, but it’s 100% possible and I’m aiming to end up with an exported file which will be a direct import into Magento AND it will give you a list of attributes you’ll need to create as well :)
Oh and of course I can automate the creation of those attributes in Magento too, but right now that export feature is proving to be a challenge and need to nail that first before I add any luxury features to it.
