Unable to revise ebay listings with template builder

I have created an ebay template using UE’s template builder, but when I try to revise a listing to add this new template builder I always get an error. The error says “Internal server error(s) [eBay created request which cannot be read]”.

This is my second day of experiencing this error issue. I have contacted m2epro but didn’t get the best of responses lol, but at least we are in communications with each other so hopefully they can sort it/identify the issue.

If they can get it resolved, I will of course let you know here. In the meantime if anyone else is experiencing, or has experienced this same error, I would like to hear from you.

Hi Ben,

Daft suggestion, what happens if you remove the custom template and just set it as product description, does the same error occur?

Hi Matt, not a daft suggestion at all. I’ll do it now and let you know. I’ve had another response from m2epro as well….

“this is a temporary technical issue on eBay server. Instead of list/stop/revise action, it returns this response. You should repeat the attempt of listing/stopping/revising items some time later.”

Not the best response I was hoping for. Plus as you know, I can revise other items okay so I can’t see how it would be an ebay server issue.

Hey Matt, I’ve replaced the custom description with the product description. I am still unable to revise this product (get the same error message).

However, I have 3 listings (as magento calls them), This item is in default listing which will not revise. But my other 2 listings… the items in these revise successfully so the issue appears to be with my default listing section only.

I have just added a new product to the default listing and tried listing this. Again, I get the same error so it defo seems be an issue with my default listing.

What I have just noticed though is that even though I tick the check box to revise one item, the error message says its for 3 items, and I have a total of 3 items in default (One of which is no longer listed as it sold out).

Can I edit the ebay category and ebay store category for this item which won’t list?

I’ve successfully listed and revised another item in default but is from a completely different ebay category and store category. Could there have been an update in ebay cats which is preventing the listings and revisions?

Ok, after wasting a whole days work on this I think I’ve narrowed it down to the custom item specifics I am using. Does anyone know how I can edit the item specifics that are selected to be displayed for the default listing ?

I’ve tried finding it by editing the various policies for the default listing, but cannot see it anywhere.

I want to remove one at a time until I find the culprit.

Just got this reply from magento

The error: “eBay created request which cannot be read” appears when in the description template or some attribute of the magento product has special character which make fail eBay service to process data.

Typically such special characters appear if you copy and paste text from certain place to magento.

In my case it seems to be EAN numbers and how they were imported via magmi.

I resolved my problem by setting “eBay Catalog Identifier” to “None” in the “Description Policy”. Not sure if this is the same issue you have had Ben.

Greg, I was just thinking EAN numbers as I couldn’t figure it out to be an item specific. Have you been able to resolve this?

Can I ask Greg, which ebay cat you list in?

Hi Ben,

Would it be an idea if I take a look for you? A fresh pair of eyes might help.

If it’s ok pop the login details over via Skype and let me know which item number it is in which group and I’ll take a looksee for you.

Setting the Identifier to none has worked for me as well, but this isn’t good news as I sell in the DVD cat which needs the EAN to promote my ebay listings in google etc.

Also, it has removed my custom item specifics from the listing which is a bit strange. Can’t figure out how I do this to get them back???

Hi Matt, yeah that would be great, thank you. I’ve been able to revise the item now but I’ve had to remove the EAN identifier from the description policy which is unfortunate as this is needed in the DVD category for ebay. Not sure why this would suddenly be an issue all of a sudden, as it wasn’t before.

I’ve skyped you my details as requested.

ah no probs Greg, not sure if it makes a difference if you have the EAN identifier in that cat. I’m in DVD and Blu-ray cat which needs the EAN identifier.

Thanks for the tip on removing the EAN ID though.. Will do for now as a temp fix until I can figure how to get the EAN back in my listings.

Howdy Ben,

Thanks for popping the details over, the data on that product is 100% fine. I pulled an export and checked it over, no weird characters anywhere.

As per Skype, shoot this back to them and as Greg is having the same issue, my money is on this being M2E Pro and your sanity isn’t lost :)
