Hi. A few days ago, I started to receive errors from listing products via M2E to eBay Australia. Everything has been listing fine prior to this.
The product in question has a 13 digit EAN barcode.
M2E indicates that the category requires a UPC identifier, but on listing, it won’t accept the 13 digit number as a UPC, nor will it accept it as an EAN identifier.
I have tried to list it as a EAN identifier and it fails with the following error message – ‘The value of EAN was no sent because it is not allowed in this Category’.
So I tried to list it as a UPC identifier and it fails because it isn’t 12 digits and is also invalid if I shorten it by removing a digit. I receive the following error – ‘Required field, UPC, is missing. Please add UPC to the listing and retry the operation.’.
The product lists successfully if I enter ‘Does not apply’ or if I enter a fake validated UPC identifier.
I want to enter the real EAN barcode, but eBay is restricting me from listing this type of product identifier.
Has anyone else came across this issue?
Since eBay started requiring the EAN, there has been a few issues pretty well documented in our forums here as well as around the web. Have you tried contacting M2E Pro regarding the error to see what they advise to do as the fix?
Every expert was once a beginner
M2E Pro support advised that the error is connected with recent eBay changes and there is nothing they can do about it from their side.
They advised to just use ‘Does not apply’ to list products successfully.
I have had the same issue. I contacted M2E support and they replied as follows;
The warning you receive ‘The value of EAN was no sent because it is not allowed in this Category’ is returned to inform you that M2E Pro sends the EAN values you set for this product, however, the data is not accepted by eBay API for this eBay category.
We may assume, eBay allows you providing the EAD identifiers for the products manually on the channel, while eBay API does not validate the same values for the same eBay category.
At this point, you can either set EAN for the product directly on eBay or try to verify why eBay API identifies EAN as not allowed for this eBay category.
M2E Pro Support Team.
I contacted Ebay support and they stated that as I had no issues listing the product manually that the issue was most likely connected to the M2E Pro listing tool.
