Twice in 2 days both times at order processing time. Time to decide if I want the hassle to move

Hey Steve,

Yea can understand the frustration looks like one of their servers and SSL’s crashed and I’m guessing that was the server you were on. knowing what Simple Servers are like they will be doing their best to get this rectified and put measures in place to stop it from happening again.

I know it isn’t much consolation but we do have a lot of members who use SS and have not had any problems and just had great support with any requests they have had. I do understand where you are coming from however, and it is disappointing for me knowing we recommended them to you and you haven’t had the best experience so far.

At the end of the day you have to do what you think is best for your business.

8 am this morning when it had been down for 18 hours the knee jerk action was to find another histing solution. But do I really want to go through the hassle of resetting everything up. I don’t think so. So now it’s time to put some processes in place to minimise the affects if it happens again. Off site backups remote cloned machine to hot swap.

I know how it is Steve and I try my best to ask myself this question in times of anger… “Is it worth taking a permanent decision based on a momentary situation” …It doesn’t always work but sometimes helps stop the rash decisions.

Has Simon been back in touch with any assurances over what has happened at their end?

I haven’t heard anything even after a polite albeit strong email

Steve, what plan are you on with them? Servers do go down, but my test for a host has been how fast they respond to support queries. Nothing more frustrating than a dead site and no reply! I’ve only heard good things about SimpleServers tbh.

Morning,

We had a few minutes outage yesterday, popped a message on Facebook apologizing and 1 minute later it was fixed :/

Just to put this into perspective, I can do stooopidly complex setups. I’ve had to do this for WidgetChimp to cope with the sheer load, however UE I don’t want (or need) any hassles with hosting, hence why we’re using them. As with anything it breaks from time to time, I expect it. All I want is an email back saying “fixed” and I didn’t do anything to fix it. Which we always get :)

Hi Jim
not sure which plan I am on. If I tidied my space up and didn’t keep as many backups I could probably be on a cheaper one.
