Hi

My magento site keeps going into maintenace mode every couple of weeks stating error 503. I have contacted the hosing company who do resolve the issue but have told me to do the following in FTP to clear the problem:

‘Now I have removed maintenance.flag file in your public_html.’
To remove maintenance.flag file, you need to login via FTP or SSH and locate the file in /home/mariabea/public_html/ and remove it.

So this is where I get stuck, I really don’t know where to look in FTP for this file and don’t understand what it all really means, can anyone help me with an idiots guide?

Also, my pc died a few weeks ago and I lost Filezilla and have had to redownload as I’m now using a new pc. Having followed the UE guides, do I need to go back and change the settings as we have progressed throught the tutorials or will filezilla remember what has been changed?

Any help you can provide is always appreciated.

Hey Maria,

If you download Filezilla again and fill in your ftp details then you should get it re-connected to your host and be able to see the files for your Magento.

From there you should be able to navigate to this directory by just heading through the folders listed above /home/mariabea/public_html/ and then looking for the file in the final folder for you to edit.

Does that make more sense?

Hello Dave

Thanks you for the reply. It does make a little more sense and I have located the file and deleted it! Hopefully no more maintenance mode going forward.
I’m also using filezilla again and it does appear to have kept all my settings. Phew!

Thank you
